Huluplus, netflix and Disney Jr

We dropped our dish several months ago. It's taken us some time but we've got it figured out. We have a blueray player that gets us hulu, netflix and vudu(rent or buy and can pay for whole current seasons)
There are a few shows we like on USA network and you cant watch them online so we got them on Vudu. ie. Burn Notice.
We've also got a computer hooked up to our tv and bought a couple current seasons of shows we like on itunes.
We save so much. We're very happy with it but we still watch too much tv.;)
I think over the last 6 months we've averaged about 25 a month on tv going this route. Way better than the 100 a month we were paying.
A penny saved is a Disney penny!!!:thumbsup2

jake is on netflix for certain, but most good disney movies are not. If you sign up for the dvd's from netflix too you get 2 at a time for about 10 or 12$ i think. Then you could get the bigger name things you miss.

I wish I could drop Directv. Our problem here is sports. My husband has to have his Yankees and Giants.

We lived without cable for 3 years and recently signed up for the Triple Play deal because it included a higher speed internet for slightly more than what we were paying for just the internet. No deals to just add the "boost."

Guess what? We hardly watch the cable we do have now... Still Netflixing and watching shows through internet streaming which is now faster! :thumbsup2

Only exceptions are the Food Network and HGTV which is our guilty pleasure but MAN are they a big waste of time! After the first 2 weeks, we stopped turning on the "TV" at all except to watch stuff online so we wouldn't waste time on live TV anymore.

Our old TIVO is not compatible with the new HD TVs and we haven't splurged on a new one yet. We are so not use to "live TV" anymore. Even pre-cutting cable about 3 years ago, we were TIVO addicts and were one of the first to jump on the bandwagon of DVRs.

Discovered a LOT of shows we enjoy on Netflix that we missed the first time around and get to do marathon sessions instead of waiting a week for a new episode...

you'll have to pry my tivo from my cold dead hands. I haven't seen a commercial in 10 yrs. And they last forever. The ones from Time Warner are awful

Jake & the Neverland Pirates is on Netflix but I think that's the only Disney Jr show that I can think of on there off the top of my head. There's some of the more unpopular Disney movies and some of the Disney "specials" (Christmas shows, House of Mouse holiday episodes, etc.).

I did find a way around it though. My grandma has Dish Network. If you have Dish, you can get Disney, Disney Jr, Disney XD & ESPN on Roku for free. Catalogs of shows AND live streaming. My grandma is NOT computer savvy and has no need to ever watch anything on the computer. So she gave us her account information to access to the channels here at our house. My girls are watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse right now. ;) I know, I know, it's cheating. But if this is the worst sin I commit in my life, I'll be ok with that.

ETA: crap, just saw how old this dead thread was. Sorry to continue to bump it up. :( My bad.

Since this thread has been resurrected, if you are using google chrome as your web browser, you can install the app "hola!" that allows you to change your location to a different country.

Doing this, you can access UK netflix which does have a lot more disney movies, including Princess and the frog, tangled, brave, cars, bugs life. They also have movies I grew up watching like cool runnings, blank check, homeward bound.

They also have a larger variety of other movies and TV shows. I think I've used it every week this month to watch Hocus Pocus

I was actually quite impressed with the amount of Disney movies available through Netflix. My daughter is enamored now with Robin Hood, Mulan, Tarzan, Aristocats, Dumbo... among others. Don't know about Apple TV, but Roku certainly has a Disney JR app. You may need a cable login for it, but if you check with friends and family you might be able to use one of theirs. We do that for ESPN and HBO GO. The people lending it to us don't use it themselves since they have cable, so they are happy to provide their credentials so they can watch their shows while they are visiting us.

Anyone know of a streaming service or place online where i can watch the Walt Disney Treasure collections like Mickey in living colour or just the old Disney toons that used to be on TV.
