a room at Old Key West for April 1 - 6. I was really wanting a Deluxe, but after 2 full weeks of NO AVAILABILITY, I wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. I snagged that sucker quicker than a dog with a meat bone.:smooth: I got the AP holder rate of 200/night.

I have never stayed at this resort (or any DVC).

Please, someone tell me all the wonderful things about this resort!:flower3:

UPDATE!!! WDW just called me BACK and gave me the Saratoga Springs Resort 2 Bedroom at the same price?!!!! They told me that they would be so appreciative if I allowed them to move to a 2 bedroom at SSR. Ummm.....Okay!!! LOL. So if anyone has info on THIS resort, keep it coming!

I am now going to make my Mom and Dad come with me....what a great deal!

Tiggersmom2, we've stayed at OKW a few times over the years. We've always had very enjoyable stays. As a matter of fact, the resort is on the list for our upcoming vacation. We haven't stayed there since they finished the main pool area makeover and we're very excited to see it (finally!) in person. Consider heading over to the DVC Board for more information about the resort.

Oh thank you so much for the reply. They have refurbished their pool?!....how fortuitous for us.:goodvibes Heading over to DVC now.....

Are you going from a two bedroom at OKW to a two bedroom at SSR? OKW villas are larger than SSR, but SSR is newer. Either one would be great. You can walk from SSR to DTD or take a boat from either OKW or SSR to DTD.

That's a mighty fine upgrade! We just stayed at a 2br at SSR in December. It was beautiful and spacious! We also really enjoy that resort for the close proximity to DTD-- we request Congress Park and love the DTD view. We also like to order in groceries to take advantage of the convenience of the kitchen. We find the walk to the main pool and DTD about equi-distant and don't mind it a bit. Have a great stay...I bet it will be no hardship the parents to come with....you all will have plenty of personal/private space as well as living area. Have a great trip!

No, I had a studio at OKW!!! I was most concerned with the pools, b/c my 5 year old and 14 year old are pool nuts....but now I'm just greatful for such a gift.

I really like the main pool at SSR too..... It has a big and little slide, waterfall, splashground, zero depth entry, squirty fountains as you enter the pool, and many easy vantage points to watch kids around the pool. There are also 2 hottubs, pool bar, close to store/food and bathrooms, community hall and they always seem to have fun pool games for the kids. I think there is a nice pool in the Grandstands section, but I haven't checked it out. There are also quiet pools, that are very nice. There was a nice playground by the quiet pool in Congress Park. You can check out pics at allearsnet.com. Happy planning!

Ohhhh, thank you so much. I can tell we are going to be very, very happy there.:goodvibes

You got a great upgrade. You now have one king sized bed, two queen sized beds (or one queen and one double sleeper sofa) and one queen sized sleeper sofa. A washer and dryer. Full sized galley style kitchen with large refrigerator and dishwasher.

You'll have three TVs and at least one DVD player, maybe two.

Artists Palette is a different type of food court, not like you find at the moderates or values. No real hot dogs, hamburgers - type of food. They will have flatbread, various upscale food. Turf Club is the table service restaurant. And you can walk or take a boat to DTD to dine or shop.

There are several pools, two themed pools (Springs and Grandstand) and two unthemed pools (Congress Park and Paddocks - I don't think that the Carousel has a pool in that section).

Be careful! We ended up being upgraded to a 1-bedroom at SSR from another resort and ended up buying into the DVC! :)

I think thats Disney's hidden agenda.....;)

They rarely upgrade DVC members but they do sometimes upgrade cash paying guests. Last year they upgraded a bunch of people from the values to SSR.

:rotfl: Yes, so true!! We have stayed there 3 times so far at the special rates they have run for FL residents and AP holders and booked a studio and were upgraded to a 1 bedroom, everytime!! I figured they did that to entice us into buying into DVC and I did take the tour. It's very tempting as I just love the villas! Of course we booked there again for May (in a studio) and I know one of these days we will get a studio. We have been soooo spoiled!! Love having the kitchen, washer and dryer (love going home with clean clothes! LOL!) and the separate rooms are great. It really is a "home away from home"!

Upgraded to a 2 bedroom from a studio for $200, now that's the deal of the season! Especially that week! Very busy time, surprised they have availability at SSR at all then. It's a BIG spring break week! But good for you...ENJOY!!!

What an awesome upgrade!!! We walked around SSR after meeting friends who were in a studio there. It had a very relaxing feel to it. I wouldn't mind staying there in the future...especially at $200 for a 2 bedroom! ;)

You're going to love it. Those Jacuzzi jets in the tub on your legs and feet after walking all day in the parks - heaven!

We're staying at SSR May 11-16 :cool1: , when I was looking at Disney's website it said something about no DME available for the DTD area resorts. I can't believe that you wouldn't be able to use DME while staying at a DVC resort, maybe I'm just misinterpreting what I saw.

I'm thinking this is more for the non-Disney owned DTD resorts, but wanted to know if anyone here has stayed at SSR and used DME.

Congrats on the upgrade - that's amazing !

Thanks in advance -

Chris

SSR guests can use DME. It's only the DTD hotels, like the Hilton, Doubletree, etc that it is not available. It's also not available to Swan/Dolphin guests.

We are staying at SSR with my brither and his wife(they are new DVC owners!!) We are so excited. It is our first time staying onsite. We will be the family that often starts singing Disney songs because we are so very happy to there. Feel free to sing along!!!:cool1: :goodvibes Have a wonderful vacation!
