Huckabee's insane comments. Update : New ways to prevent terrorist attacks, #34 :(

Ahhh Huckabee.
I'm actually scared that there's even the slightest possibility he can win.

I think I might move a bit further away from the border -.-

"I think the radical view is to say that we’re going to change the definition of marriage so that it can mean two men, two women, a man and three women, a man and a child, a man and animal. Again, once we change the definition, the door is open to change it again."
Huckabee.

What I got from that.. is he's comparing gay marriage to things like bestiality.. and taking it to a wrong level.
Crazy man.

:scared1::scared1: :scared1:
So now he's in support of the pedophiles?
It says a man and a child.

This man needs to be in a mental place.
He needs help.

No.
I think what he's saying, is that if you say a man and a man get married, you're changing the definition of marriage. Once they 'allow such a thing' it opens the door to bestiality and marrying children, and the definition of marriage gets changed until it's 'not holy'.
Which is a load of BS.

Not gonna flame on you.
Half the time, people running for president or whatever aren't even fit for voting for.
Half the time round here, I ask my parents who they think they might vote or whatever and it's 'What does it really matter? All they do is make up each of their own lies and then go against it.' Not exactly in those words, but that's how people feel about politics today. They don't get into it, because in the end each the of candidates aren't that much better than the other one, and well.. none of them bring to the table what the country wants.

But, if thats true than why is this thread here in the first place?? and why do you have 8 posts in this thread and are quoting canidats?

I have eight posts in this thread, because I think that Huckabees statement was ridiculous. And some related to my country, not really related to this thread. And then that quote? Yeah, found that on Perez Hilton. I don't follow this very closely.

One thing I've noticed though, is if I watch my parents, relatives or even my brother watching something like This Hour has 22 Minutes or Royal Canadian Air Farce (While they're Canadian comedy shows, most of it is Canadian AND American political satire), I find them laughing their heads off of people mocking, say George Bush, Hillary Clinton or Stephane Dion. They're not laughing just because it's funny, but a lot of it tends to be true in some kind of context.

One view point (if it hasn't already been said), is that marriage is an extremely religious thing(sacrament). The idea of marriage originated from the Bible. There's no way to get around that, and, the Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman.

I think it's more a 'religious idea'.
The problem is, being married gives you certain rights. You become their family. They're on their death bed, and you're considered 'kin' or what have you
But someone can't have these rights just because that person is of the same sex as them? That's just not right.
There are ways to get around it. It's called, stop making religion the be all end all.
People can have their religion, they can have it in their weddings and their funerals. And I respect that. But I don't want people who are gay or lesbian to be denied such wonderful things as marriage.

I have nothing against a union between same sex couples that would give them the same rights as a married couple. I agree with you that they should have the same rights, because it isn't fair, just don't call it marriage.

So gays can have the same rights as non-gays in marriage, but can't have the same honor to say they're married?
That's wrong IMO.

Please tell me if I'm reading this wrong.
If so,my apologies.

You're reading it correctly, just taking it the wrong way. It is my religious belief that marriage is between a man and a woman, not same sex couples. I don't know how to explain it very well. :confused3

The idea of marriage has been around long before the Bible.

But what's wrong with politics today is religion. I'm not talking about separation of church and state because that has nothing to do with this. I'm talking about the fact that too many politicians (and people in general) today can't put aside their religious beliefs and see that we're all human. We all deserve equal rights. "All men are created equal" and whatnot. So, doesn't that entitle a man (who was created equal to all other men, by the way) to marry another man (again, created equal to all other men)? Or a woman (created equal to all other men/women) to marry another woman (again, created equal to all other men/women)? We were endowed with "certain inalienable rights", right? Those rights are "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", well, marriage is happy for most people, so why are they being prevented from pursuing it? This country wasn't founded on religious ideals. It wasn't founded on one person being superior to others. It was founded on the idea that people should see other for what they are- simply other people.

Umm... it kinda was... "One nation, under God." Religion had a lot to do with how the Founding Fathers came up with the framework for our country.

Equal rights--I have no problem whatsoever with that. I want to make that clear.

Edit:
Oh, there's always going to be a problem with politics---it's the nature of the beast. lol

So you have no problem with gays being afforded the equal right to marriage, then?

Also, I direct you over here. If you don't want to go, I'll summarize if for you.

-The original Pledge was written in 1892, a full 114 years after the official founding of our country. It never contained the word "god". The line read simply "'I pledge allegiance to my Flag and (to*) the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.'"
-In 1923 and 1924 "my Flag" was changed to "the Flag of the United States of America" after a campaign for the change was mounted by the American Legion and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
-The words "under god" weren't added until 1954, almost 200 years after the founding of the U.S.. This was done after the Knights of Columbus campaigned for it.

But here's another Did You Know?: We used to salute the flag just like Nazi soldiers saluted Hitler?

I dont get the bible..

I dont believe in God.
I don't understnad why people have to live according to one group of people's beliefs..
