Hi
Just spent 5 nights at the HRH. Had booked a poolview, non-smoking room. When we got there, we had a great room on the 1st floor, with a bit of a view of the pool (the cabanas at least!); the room had a no-smoking sign on the table, but was obviously a smoking room. Just one wiff, and you could tell! We were too tired to complain, so went for a swim and went to bed early. NOT! Now, I'm not an old prude, I'm mid 30's and loved most of the music that was being played at the pool and in the lobby. However, when you get in your poolside room and lie down to sleep, all you can hear until 11 pm is the booming bass from the music! Drove us nuts!!

We called the front desk the next am, requesting a different room. Packed up our lugguge, sent it off with the service, took off to IOA, came back around 4 to see if our new room was ready! It was, we went up to the 4th floor to find a nice smelling non smoking (for real this time) POOL VIEW room. My husband made everyone be quiet so he could lay on the bed and see if he could still hear the bass!! SURE COULD! Called the front desk again, seems as though they thought we wanted to change rooms so we could have a non-smoking room and couldn't understand what I meant about getting away from the music!! ( wasn't that why we came to the Hard Rock??) Finally, after I convinced them that I didn't mind paying for a pool view room and staying in a gardenview, we got another room on the 4th floor overlooking the marina where the water taxi picks up. It was great, and the only noise we heard were from the kids whose parents let them run the halls at 7am screaming at the top of their lungs!! (didn't their moms ever tell them that some people like to sleep in while on vacation??)

Even though things didn't start off so well, we had a great stay at the Hard Rock. Its a nice place. Just wanted people to be aware of the noise level, as some people had been asking about it. Go for the garden view, room looks the same, has nice views, and is a bit more quiet.

I agree! I had a 4th floor pool view room at HRH the first time. all I heard every moring was that bass from the music. I couldn't stand it.
The next time I asked for the garden view,we also had the view of the boat dock area. it was pretty to look at and peaceful!
Yes and for the life of me I can't understand why parents let their children run in hallways sreaming and banging doors! It's rude!

We LOVE the HRH.....so much better than the RP....we are going back in May and I requested the same room as before...if we get it, it is first floor poolview....yes, there is bass at night but I have learned to have an "extra" beer at happy hour and viola....no problem. Of course, I am just so happy to be going back to HRH , I am willing to put up with quite a bit. Matters not to me...we stayed at the Holiday INN sunspree one year and paid $99.00 a night and it was nice but nowhere as wonderful as walking 5 minutes to the parks and FOTL. For an extra $25.00 we get to have this......noise is not a major problem with me, I have 2 boys that are very noisy.
For someone wanting a quieter vacation, maybe the Portifino would be the more appropriate choice. In December, we stayed at the Royal Pacific..no comparison to the HRH in my opinion. I didn't like it at all. Of course , it was cold and you couldn't swim, That might have made a difference but I don't think so. From the moment you get in the HRH, the atmosphere just makes me happy. Nope, did not like the Royal Pacific....Won't stay there again.
But I am counting the days until we go back to HRH.

That's really funny to me. I'm usually VERY sensitive to noise but I was never bothered by any pool music when I was there. I'm thinking I must not have gone to bed before 11:00 and that's why I didn't hear it.

Glad they moved you though! I think it's an AWESOME hotel!

We had a pool view room in March on the 1st floor. We definatley heard the booming bass, but it did not bother us. We knew that there would be music. After all, isn't that why you would stay at the HRH!!!! We LOVE this hotel!
