Hi
Just spent 5 nights at the HRH. Had booked a poolview, non-smoking room. When we got there, we had a great room on the 1st floor, with a bit of a view of the pool (the cabanas at least!); the room had a no-smoking sign on the table, but was obviously a smoking room. Just one wiff, and you could tell! We were too tired to complain, so went for a swim and went to bed early. NOT! Now, I'm not an old prude, I'm mid 30's and loved most of the music that was being played at the pool and in the lobby. However, when you get in your poolside room and lie down to sleep, all you can hear until 11 pm is the booming bass from the music! Drove us nuts!!
We called the front desk the next am, requesting a different room. Packed up our lugguge, sent it off with the service, took off to IOA, came back around 4 to see if our new room was ready! It was, we went up to the 4th floor to find a nice smelling non smoking (for real this time) POOL VIEW room. My husband made everyone be quiet so he could lay on the bed and see if he could still hear the bass!! SURE COULD! Called the front desk again, seems as though they thought we wanted to change rooms so we could have a non-smoking room and couldn't understand what I meant about getting away from the music!! ( wasn't that why we came to the Hard Rock??) Finally, after I convinced them that I didn't mind paying for a pool view room and staying in a gardenview, we got another room on the 4th floor overlooking the marina where the water taxi picks up. It was great, and the only noise we heard were from the kids whose parents let them run the halls at 7am screaming at the top of their lungs!! (didn't their moms ever tell them that some people like to sleep in while on vacation??)
Even though things didn't start off so well, we had a great stay at the Hard Rock. Its a nice place. Just wanted people to be aware of the noise level, as some people had been asking about it. Go for the garden view, room looks the same, has nice views, and is a bit more quiet.
