I found this layout map of HRH and I've heard on this board that you take a path behind the slide to head for the parks, but it doesn't really look like there is a path there other than the one that does loops and brings you right back. Any path experts out there?

If you look at the path that has the number 22 on it, follow that one over the first bridge, then over the second bridge, it will loop around and take you to Universal Studios. I have taken this path several times and it is quicker than waiting for the boat.

The shortest path is behind the Beach Bar which is #4 on your map. Go around to the right and there will be a gate. Go out the gate and cross the parking lot and there is a sidewalk leading right to Citywalk and Universal. About five minutes tops!

The path is to the left of the Beach Club. It is between the Beach Club and the slide. I couldn't believe how fast we could get to the park.

Don't worry once you exit through the gate between the Beach bar and the pool slide you will be able to see Universal to your left as you exit the gate. If I remember correctly you are kind of walking throught the parking lot. You can always go the other way along the path, it's longer but still not a bad walk.

I just got back from a stay at HRH and the path does go from beside the slide to the parking lot, you can cut across the corner of the lot and walk right up, like others have said, no more than 5 minutes tops. The gate wasn't working though, it had a button to push to open (not working) and we couldn't figure out how to open it till someone came by and showed us, later we had to show someone else too... so here's how to open the gate, pull up on the top of the gate on the right hand side(if you are leaving the hotel).:)

I say the heck with the paths, take the boats!
That little luxury is one of my favorite things about staying onsite. It's such a pleasant way to begin and end your day in the parks. I really don't think I am missing anything in the 10 minutes or so waiting between trips, and besides I do enough walking IN the parks.
And you can call me silly but I kind of like when the boat captains toot the horn under the bridges and the people wave. Come on, admit it, it's the same kind of ego stroking you get when you flash your room key at the rides and walk past the "masses."

call me nuts but to me the path behind the slide seems longer than the one to the left of the pool. When you exit the building at the pool coming form the elevators you are much closer to that side ofh te building. What I do is take the elevator to the 1st floor and exit at the Sunset grille. Go to my left and exit at that gate. Follow the path to your right and that takes you right to US.

The back gate has a mind of its own. Ask Renee, the gate seemed to not to like her. On more than one occassion we gave up and slid through the posts of the fence (easy for her, but a very tight fit for me). Of course, it took us about two days to find the big button on the HRH side of the gate that opened the gate. The gate can be a very big challenge to people in a hurry. ;) :p

You sound like our family!! We love those few minutes of valuable resting time on those boats when we stay at the Dolphin. So I plan on enjoying that luxury again at HRH!!!:)

I have every intention of taking the boat back to HRH from the parks when my feet are throbbing, I figure I'll enjoy the trip back, nice and relaxing, plus I'm not in a hurry to go anywhere, I figure my teens will want to hoof it early in the morning so I'm trying to be able to tell them where to go for the "secret HRH pathway"!

You won't save any time or distance using the ferry if you are going to or from US & the HRH. The ferry dock is on the opposite side of the water from the 2 parks, about 1/2 between US and IOA.

I never said the ferry saves time- the ride takes about 7 minutes and therefor the longest waiting time is about 15 minutes and that's only if you just miss the departure. We use that time to plan out what we want to do and see if it is in the morning. The ride back is usually filled with recapping the day and planning the next! It's especially nice to feel that cool breeze off the water after a long hot day.
One of the best things about living close enough to visit several times a year is that we don't need to rush to jam pack our day with activities. We like visiting at a leisurely pace and we know what me miss this trip we can do next time.
