Anyone been there recently? Just wondering what you can tell me about it. Worth the extra $? Is there a good spread? I am thinking it would be a nice treat!

Does no one stay at club level anymore?

:thumbsup2 We were there in Aug.'06(I know that is not recently, but you were not getting any other responses). We love club level and always feel that we get our money's worth. We are usually 4-5 people in our party.Breakfast is plenty of food....variety of cereal, donuts, bagels, bread(toaster available),fresh fruit cut up and fruit that you can take with you, yogurt,no hot foods.Variety of juices, soda, tea and coffee and milk.During the day...sodas,bottled water and usually some kind of snack bags sitting out(chips, pretzels).Evening offerings....changes nightly...mini pizzas, meatballs, chinese food consisting of wontons, chicken on a stick, sometimes there is a big salad out, pigs in a blanket,I am drawing a blank as to what else for food. There is a selection of wine and beer, sodas, water, and coffee and tea.For the late night snack...one night we made sundaes, another night was fresh baked cookies, another was canolies and another was cream puffs. That is about all I can remember,we were there a week and a lot of the happy hour foods repeated themselves. We would eat a big lunch in the parks, but otherwise the club offerings were enough to sustain us.Don't forget to take a piece of fruit,a soda or bottle of water to your room for a snack later.Hope this helps.Any more questions...I'll be glad to help!!:surfweb:

Thank you for responding!!! Sounds good, except that my dh's fondest part of vacationing is having dinner! I wonder if he would be willing to have a nice big lunch instead of dinner? Then club would make much more sense for us!

I agree that with a larger family Club level is a good idea. Not an even dollar to dollar balance BUT an easy and plentiful assortment of food and drink (figure about 100 extra per night). We have two teenage boys so I think we do really well, especially at breakfast. We normally don't make it to evening appetizers but when we do it is a great snack and we schedule a late dinner. I prefer the Royal Pacific club level because the club lounge is much, much more comfortable with a great assortment of seating and internet access. The hard rock is really small and at breakfast it is almost impossible (in my expreience) to sit and enjoy a cup of tea or a bagel.

HRH club room was re-decorated when we were there last month. Instead of couches in the back room there are now tables and chairs. It is much nicer now.

Is it worth it? That is up to you. Will you get anything in return for the extra money spent each day? For a family of four eating breakfast in club room saves at least $40/day not to mention not having to drive to IHOP or Dennys or walk to Citywalk or wait for a table etc. Add Four beers or wines and you save another - well I dont really know so I will guess another $28. Add 8 waters or sodas and you save another $12 easily. You also have to add in the lunch and dinner snacks plus late night sweets they put out-give those $20 total/day. You have saved around $100 per day easily for family of four but only if you use it. It is possible to stay on club level and never pay for food or drink but probably not practical.

Of the six times we have been to HRH last four have been club level and will go again this summer.

TIP - If you get the welcome gift or bottle of wine delivered to your HRH club room save the large tray. Take it to the HRH club room and take breakfast back to your room. I have done this two times now and people always ask me where I got the tray. For those who haven't stayed HRH club there is a table by the window with two chairs (in your room) that you can eat the food from.

Thanks for the information. I am definitely interested. I guess I will wait & see what AP rates look like.

I am going to call & book a standard room next week, just so I have one...

Just an update. I just reserved a king club room online. APH rate of $314 :scared1: but I am seriously hoping it will go down another $100--is that too much to hope for? I really don't know what to expect. This will be Dec. 14-17, 3 nights.

BTW, does the king club only have a king bed or is there a sofa too?

For the rate to come down $100/night is a bit on the wishful thinking side, IMO. :( We stayed RPR Club in December ('06), and the rate was $239.20 with AAA, and that was actually a better deal than the APH rate. HRH is always more expensive than RPR, so that's why I think you'll never see $214 a night for HRH Club, but keep checking as you never know. Sorry I can't help you with the bed question.

Is it normal to get a better rate thru AAA? We are AAA members too. I won't bother to buy an AP if that is the case!

Is it normal for the AAA rate to be better than the APH rate? It didn't used to be, but now it's not so uncommon. Your dates are exactly the same as ours were (December 14 - 17), so I know your dates include a weekend. The APH rate was $229 for Sunday -Thursday nights, and then went up to $259 for Friday and Saturday night for RPR Club last December. AAA rates do not increase over the weekend. Since we had a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday stay, our APH total would have been $747 ($259*2 + $229), and the AAA total was $717.60 ($239.20*3). Not a big difference, but since we get Loews First benefits with AAA and we don't with APH, a no brainer. I would wait till your dates get closer to see if APH rates work in your favor before investing in one, if room rates are your only reason for buying one.

Thanks for that info. Very helpful. Yes, the AP would be mostly for the room rate. If I get one, then I would definitely try to squeeze in another trip, lol...February or March 08. But yeah, primarily for the discount. We are already AAA members though, so I will wait it out. And, yes, it will be Friday, Saturday, & Sunday night.
