I just got a quote for the week of July 1st - 6 nights, 7 days, MYW tickets with dining and park hopper option for 2 adults, 2 kids (11 and 6) and a 2 yo. at a moderate resort. $2134

The value was $2084 for preferred room and $2003 for standard. I figured it was worth the extra little bit for a fridge and bigger room at the moderate (DH likes the ceiling fan too LOL)

Anyway, is this a good deal? I thought it was great, since it's cheaper than value rates in peak season (I got PINNED  ) I just wanted to bounce it off all of you budget experts because I am a frugal freak :teeth: and need to make this the best deal possible for DH to agree.

What else should we be budgeting for besides transportation down there (we're driving) and some play money for souvenirs? TIA ! This place rocks

As far as packages go, you got a good price. If you were to break it down to the individual costs, it would cost close to $2672. The prices would be as follows. Keep in mind that your 11yo will be charge as a "junior" which means adult price tickets and meal plan and there is no charge for the 2yo.
  • 6 nights moderate room, rack rate, std. view, regular season = $996.81
  • 7-day MYW Hoppers (expiry) thru Disney, adv. purchase price, 3 adult, 1 child = $906.15
  • MYW dining option, 3 adults and 1 child = $769.35
  • total = $2672.31
I'd say that if having the dining plan is important to you, go for it. The only way to get the dining plan is with a package and you got a good price. Just make sure that whoever gave you the quote is aware that one "kid" is 11yo. There is a big difference in pricing between a child (3-9) and a junior (10-17).

I am usually anti-package but that sounds like a deal to me- congratulations!

Thanks for the feedback! The rep at Disney knew the kids' ages. I think the dining plan will take a lot of hassle out of trying to keep things in budget and I like the idea of this new plan. The threads/sites I've seen that break down the value of this plan show that you will at least break even, if not come out way ahead, so that is a huge plus for me, and the convenience factor. I also like that I can pay for my 6 yo's meal at a restaurant, just using meal "vouchers" for my 11 yo, DH and myself. That can help us budget for a special meal :)

Forgot to mention that I had emailed DU before calling Disney and got the DU quote back - $300 more than Disney! at the POP Century instead of POR.

I think that's an awesome price. I got quote for 7 nites 6/18 -6/25 2 adults, 9 yr old & 1 yr old at POP w/hoppers and dining for $2,118
I think the difference is you are value season and I am regular season.
I think that is a great price.

Thanks for posting! I guess I'm just trying to reassure myself and my DH that this is a deal LOL! :) I am pretty sure that the first week of July is peak season too, but I may be wrong on that? That's why I was so shocked with the $ bc it's cheaper than value rates!!

I would call back & double check that the CM took down all the right info. This way, you will have piece of mind that you got a great deal! (I have had CMs put incorrect dates, PS times, etc, so I always triple check). Have a great trip!

Yep, I used a pin code from a postcard.

I called back today to book and put my deposit down :cheer2: I am so excited!!!! :cool1:

I made sure to clarify EVERYTHING twice today - arrival and departure dates, which resort, MYW with dining and hoppers, made sure they had the ages correct, requested a new room with a fridge and trundle bed, in AB near the bus area, etc. Thank you for all the tips. It's confirmed and I am on :cloud9:

Off to go snuggle in front of the fire with hubby and start planning my PS :rotfl2: HE thinks I'm insane, but I know you will all understand :earboy2:

wow, that sounds better than the ad they run on tv.(1800.00 for mod) when you add the dining plan. i think i'll call to see if i have a pin to my name. thanks for posting!

Did you have a room discount? If not- who did you book through? Have fun!!

I got a postcard in the mail from Disney with discounted room rates and was able to book a package with them as well. I called Disney direct. I did contact Dreams Unlimited, but they quoted me $300 more than Disney for the Pop Century. We're staying at POR. HTH :)

Thats interesting. Is Dreams Unlimited the same as Dream Vacations? I had experience with Dream vacation where they went up $300 from original quote then tried to explain it away. I too have a Disney room discount code but when I called Disney was told I could not use coupon code and package with dining together. People seem to have different experiences with this.

I don't think so. The site is dreamsunlimitedtravel.com They have gotten rave reviews from a lot of people. As far as not being able to use the MYW with dining package with a coupon code, I've heard mixed responses as well. Maybe I just got REALLY lucky !

Sounds like you got a great deal. I think you'll love the POR. We'll be at WDW the same time. I know exactly what you mean about planning your PS's. I do it all the time and can't wait for my 90 day mark. Now if I would only get a postcard or an AP rate I'd be sooooooo happy!

I called to book my package because online I couldnt get it to work for 5 at POR and and the person I got at disneyworld.com had my pin code in her system!!!! Funny I do not recall even getting the postcard or email. I half wonder if she was just being nice. Anyway my trip is 29xx.xx for 8 days 7 night for 2 adlts 3 children 4/10/13 at POR. Includes 7 day basic park, dining, photopassporter, magical express and room at POR. I feel good about it.

I want a postcard too! Is there a way to ask for a pin-or are these just random acts of kindness :confused3 We are presently booked for a value 1400 for 7d/6n in Dec-but would love to add hopper feature and ?maybe dining-but I don't want to spend much more than 2000.00-I sure could use a code about now :earsgirl: :rotfl:

I consider myself one of the very lucky ones. I signed up about a year ago on Disney web site to be on their mailing list. Since then I have received several e-mails with discount codes. The most recent was for value resort for $59 per night. I was also able to use it for Moderate and we are booked for POR in May for 7 nights at $79 per night. As far as using dining plan with room discount there seems to be different experiences for everyone. Initially, I was told and 3 travel agents I got quotes from that you can NOT use code and also get dining plan. However, I kept reading on the boards that some people were able to use both. So I called Disney reservations myself again to try one last time and BINGO!!. Dining plan and room discount went through without a problem. With everything, final price for my husband, myself and 2 children ages 4 and 6 is about $2500. This price includes direct non-stop flight(morning) out of New York, room ,tickets and dining plan. I was pretty happy with this price and would not have been able to afford Disney if I had not gotten a deal. If the first CM you talk to tells you that you can't use code and dining plan say thank-you, hang up and call right back. KEEP TRYING!! It can be done.
