We usually go in Oct or Jan but, grandkids have school and school sports starting in middle of August so we are looking at middle of first week into second week before, they start fall ball!!! :cool1:

Very Very HOT and heavy afternoon rain very crowded with 30-60 wait time for rides

Usually very hot and humid. However, last time we were at Disney in August, the weather was perfect-mid 80's and clear. So, you never can tell.

We always go to Disney in the summer, because I'm a teacher. To keep the heat at bay, we always hit the parks first thing in the morning and stay until about 11:00 or 12:00, go back to the rv and nap/swim/relax. Then, we go back out at about 5:00 pm. This helps.

If it's August or not at all I'd go. Fall break would be nicer.

My family went the second week of August last year and actually liked it better than in June when we usually go. Hot of course, but the crowds were much better. (I think the Florida schools started that week.) We 'do Disney' exactly like 'cruising spud', much more relaxing.:)

We tried to book for August this year, but the campground was booked so June it is. (Two days to be exact!:woohoo:)

Some counties schools starts 8/15 and other counties 8/22. So yes, we start early. Value season at the Ft. usually starts when the kids go back to school here. They have caught onto the school system here.

It's hot anyway you slice it. I try to book for the value season. We get the week of new years off-still on the christmas break so we book the Ft. then. We could have a freeze or it could be 70 degrees. The only peeps around are the school kids in our county. The things I do to save a buck or two...while enjoying the :wizard:

Normal for August is killer hot and humid with heat index over 105. We have lived here for over 20 years and don't remimber any 80 degree days in August. I must have been hiding in the A/C and missed it. :cool1:

I have lived in Florida for 43 years and it's never been in the 80’s in August most summer day are 96 and go to brisk 92 with a 100% humidity after the big rain storms

Not to get into a snit about this, but I really remembered our last trip to Disney, because a lot of family happiness was in my hands. I planned a trip for my husband and myself, three daughters, one son-in-law, and my sister and her family, so I wanted everything to go smoothly. And, luckily, the trip was a great hit with everyone. One of the things that I worried about most, was the July and August heat. And, I really remember how nice the weather was (for Florida, not for say, Alaska). Which was an unexpected surprise. A REAL, one-in-a-million lottery winning. Now, I'm not saying that every day brought us perfect weather, but the temperatures were low for Florida, for that time of year, and the humidity was not nearly as bad as it usually is. And, so, to make sure I hadn't created this post trip fantasy in my head, I went to the Farmers Almanac for July 20 and into a few days in August of 2008. The weather ranged from a low of 84 degrees to a high of about 94 degrees. Is this usual weather for July and August in Florida? Certainly not. You usually leave your campsite and start an instant meltdown. I am just saying that sometimes the force is with you. I don't plan to say anything more about this. I certainly didn't plan on anyone taking exception to my post. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I don't believe you offended anyone, at least not me, people just tend to stick with what is considered the typical weather and don't think of any exceptions or changes.

I felt the same way you do, I posted on 2 other threads that June (one poster asked about mid to late June) is generally just as hot as July and August, other posters disagreed with me, as is their right. Now I have lived in central Florida since the mid 1970's and when we are hitting heat indexes in the 3 digit range in mid June, to me that is hot, just as hot as July and August, but I guess everything comes down to perspective, right?

Hot! Hot! Hot!
It's hot in Pennsylvania in August!
But let me see, would I rather be hot in PA. or hot in Ft. Wilderness?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? I don't even have to think twice about that one.

I think most have it down. It will be 10/10. On heat and crowds.

But, here is how I look at it. We usually go in July and August due to school and racing. Most times it was upper 90's for temps and humidity. The funny part was that it was generally hotter at home in St Louis.

Bottom line is if I have to put up with the same heat and humidity, I'd rather do it at Disney.
