I used to love the carrot cake cookie at DHS, first at Writer's Stop, then at Trolley Cafe. However, the last time I had one, about 3 years ago, I took a few bites then threw it away, it was so awful. The problem was primarily with the frosting/filling. It had gone from sweet and yummy, to fatty and not sweet at all. It tasted like pure shortening. Has anyone had one within the last year or so and can verify that it's (hopefully) improved back to its taste or sadly is just as bad as when I had it last?

Back to really good! We had the same gross experience a few years back. It seemed like they had changed the batter and the cake part was gooey-gluey and the frosting was flavorless and gross. We used to buy them all the time and said never again at the time.

Earlier this year we watched a YouTuber's video on the best cookies and they listed the carrot cake cookie as one of their top and it actually LOOKED like the old one so we said we would try it again and it was back to the good cake/frosting. Of course there's no guarantee but we bought them a couple of times more since and they continued to be good.

If you used to get them at the Writer's Stop, do you remember the soft shortbread chocolate chip cookie too? I just said to my DH the other day, why won't they bring those back? They were so delectable too!

Thanks so much! No, I don't remember the soft shortbread chocolate chip cookie. Besides the carrot cake cookie, all I remember was that a man worked there whose badge said he was from a city near my home. However, he said he hadn't been there in over 30 years! So glad about the cookie-I'm taking my granddaughters there, and since the cookie's back to being really good, I'll buy one and offer to share it.

You're welcome! Fingers crossed for your cookie experience!

Well, I'm back and it definitely was as good as I remember. And it's also a pretty decent buy for $5.99-the cookie's definitely big enough to share. The only slight complaint I have is that it's a bit sticky, so after a couple bites, I waited until I got back to our villa at OKW and used a fork. But overall, it was great!
