We're getting ready to book our '07 trip (I hit the 500 day mark today) and I am desperately trying to decide on the date. Can someone who's "experienced" Memorial Day at Disney tell me just how bad the crowds really are? How is the week before and the week after? I was thinking that quite a few school systems were still in session around Memorial Day so maybe it wouldn't be too bad.
I'm trying to decide whether to try and go before, our school system is out mid-May or wait till the Memorial Day crowds thin out. Do things get better right after that Monday or does it take the entire following week? If you have any thoughts or info I would really appreciate it. :goodvibes

Two years ago it was CROWDED and hot... scorching, humid, sticky, HOT.

But we paced ourselves and knew that we were coming back later that same week (which was less full).

Crowds have been getting heavier within the past few years, so there's no FIRM numbers... just know that when WDW is busy, its MK that is the FULLEST.

We went the week before Memorial Day and stayed a couple of days after years ago. The week before and after were wonderful. Memorial Day weekend was extremely, extremely crowded, especially MK. We did not go back to the parks over the weekend on our second trip, we just stayed away. But after Monday, we walked on almost every ride.

Thanks for your replies!!! Sounds like we'd better wait until after Memorial Day. I'm glad things get better right after that Monday and not days and days later. Gotta get there before so many schools get out!!!

Thanks again! ::yes::

I was there Memorial Day weekend last year and I didn't think the crowds were that bad. I took my nieces who couldn't miss a week of school, so we got there the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. It rained a lot, so we had no wait for any rides in the morning using early entry. We usually took a break around noon when the parks got crowded and headed back at night. The evening extra hours were crowded, especially at MK, but we saw everything! Have a great trip!

Hi! My family was there last Memorial Day from the Wednesday before to the Wednesday after. I didn't think it was crazy crowded at all. We really didn't have to wait long for many things...MK was probably the most crowded the whole time, but that was expected. We stayed on-site, utilized EMH in the mornings, and usually took a break in the afternoon and headed back out in the evenings. We used the Sunday as our break day and just did DTD and we did BB on Memorial Day, and it got crowded, but by getting there early, we were able to do what we wanted.

I thought it was a fine time to go and would do it again. I don't think it was as crowded as many other times can get. As a previous poster stated, it did rain that weekend and the Tuesday after Mem Day, we rode Splash and Thunder Mt about 6 times each with no line and that was late morning.

Have fun planning! :flower:

Last year, we there the week before Memorial Day (arrived on Sunday & left the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend).

On that Friday, we spent the morning in MK & the afternoon in Epcot, and we actually thought that both parks were more manageable than they had been earlier in the week. We also went into MK the Saturday we left & didn't think it was bad at all. (Of course, we were preparing ourselves for huge, awful crowds, so anything less was pleasantly surprising!)

A nice story about our last day - - We had actually thought of not going to MK at all on our last day because we'd thought (w/ it being the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend) that it would just be too crowded & not fun at all. However, we decided to go for one last trip down Main Street & a last ride on "It's a Small World". Anyway, 1 of my DD's favorite characters is Pocahontas. We had seen her show at AK, but had not seen her anywhere else & had resigned ourselves to leaving w/o our kids getting to see her & get her autograph. So, there we were on our last day, strolling through Adventureland saying "good-bye", and there she was - with NO line! And Meeko was with her! So, our last pictures are of our DD & DS w/ Pocohontas & Meeko! :goodvibes And I'm very glad we decided to go into MK!

It was very hot, though! :sunny:

We're going on May 13th for the week....has anyone been during this time? It seems like its right before school lets out but still before Memorial Day. Should the crowds be pretty decent then? On our Honeymoon, we went in September and it was dead...while I'm not expecting crowds to be that light, I hope they're not too bad. I've already planned on arriving at Animal Kingdom before they drop the gates so we can get on Everest...other than that, at least Epcot has three signiature attractions to break up the crowds now, it was terrible when it was just Test Track alone.
