Sorry if I missed a thread where people were talking about this, but I was wondering if anyone has eaten there yet and how they thought it was. I'm thinking about the pasta part when I'm down there in a few weeks and curious what people's take on it is. Anything good or bad is welcome!! Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

My family and I really liked it, but not so much the next door Paradise Garden Grill. I wrote a Culinary Quest DIS blog about our experience at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta when it first opened earlier this summer. Click here if you'd like to read it. It includes pictures. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

I liked the kabobs at Paradise Garden Grill, but didn't care for the flatbread pizza at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta (I didn't try the pasta). But I prefer a thicker crust. The toppings were ok. The salads looked good.

It wasn't bad! We ate dinner there last week around 7:00 and there was no line at all which was very nice, and there is a large seating area. Even if busy I don't think it would be too bad, since they have food sitting out waiting for pickup (as opposed to most counter service where you have to order, then wait for ten minutes in the other side of the line.) It's not a fine Italian restaurant but the food was FAR better than a corn dog or turkey leg and all the other junk you can get in the parks. The kids' meals are a pretty good deal, too. Pizza or pasta plus two sides and a drink for . . . $7, I think. I give it a :thumbsup2 .

ScooterL - you would like the kids' pizzas then. They are definitely thicker crust - and you get the bonus drink and apple slices!!!! :thumbsup2

I actually had to forgo buying the kids meals there, because my girls prefer thin crust and I knew the pizzas would sit uneaten.

We tried this place for lunch this past Sunday. I had listened to the review on the podcast and read Tony's culinary quest blog posting, so I had really been looking forward to eating there. It did not disappoint. DS10 had the raviolis and chose red sauce for them. I tasted one ravioli and thought it was yummy. DS11 had the spaghetti and meatballs. I remember thinking, really?! But I tasted that too, and I think it's a bit better than the one at Pizza Port which I'm not a big fan of. The red sauce is definitely more zesty and enjoyable. DS11 really liked it a lot. I liked that the meatballs seemed a bit better quality than the most recent ones at Pizza Port, and I hope these meatballs stick around. DH had the chicken sun-dried tomato pasta. I had only a bite and thought it was ok but not quite my thing. DH ate the whole thing, and said he enjoyed it. I took a chance for me and tried the portobello mushroom and spinach flatbread. That was really tasty. I felt like it was generously topped, and I didn't mind the thin crust even though I'm usually more of a thick crust fan. DH had a piece of the flatbread with me and thought it was really tasty. If I hadn't left his entree alone, he probably would have had more of the flatbread too. Everybody but I tasted the espresso brownie and pronounced it delicious; I'm not a coffee fan. The boys were trying to convince us to buy another one and let them share it, but we decided a couple tastes was enough for them. DH might have to buy two next time though if he wants to be able to keep one to himself. We will definitely return to this place!

I've eaten five meals at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta since it opened, so I guess I like this new counter service location. :goodvibes

Here are my thoughts on each of the meals I've had.

  1. Chicken Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta: this is my favorite dish hands down! The sun-dried tomato cream sauce is omg delicious with a little bit of spiciness. And the amount of chicken mixed with the pasta is deceptively generous.
  2. Five-Cheese Ravioli: I love pesto sauce and the sauce in this dish is no exception.
  3. BBQ Chicken Pizza: I first questioned whether or not the flatbread pizza would fill me up, but sure enough, I was very satisfied after eating it. The portion was just right and it was quite tasty!
  4. Portobello Mushroom and Spinach Pizza: the mushroom and pesto toppings made this quite delicious. However, I'm not a big fan of artichokes, so I pulled those off, and I thought there should have been more spinach topping. However, this is one of my friend's favorite entrees in the entire Disneyland Resort.
  5. Chicken Caesar Salad: nothing remarkable. A fairly standard chicken caesar. The one really good thing about it is portion size. They put a lot of salad in that salad bowl!
