I am sorry if this is in the thread, but i could not find it. Do the internal buses still stop at WL, I do enjoy the WL but have decide to stay at FW this time. I have stayed in the cabins befor, but it was probably 10 years ago. to give an example of how long it has been since I stayed there when we were there last the internal busses were Boone and crockett not colors and at least one of them went to WL bus stop.

I was just there last week and
there was a bus going to WL from
FW. And the theme park busses stopped at WL before or after FW too.

ConcKahuna...my dd6 walked by while I was reading the thread and wanted to know if the seagull in your siggy was animatronic??? :rotfl2::rotfl:

So I tried talking my dh into an August trip with the great code for the cabins ($1488 for 7 nights!!!). He declined saying its too hot in the summer...bummer huh?!:sad2:

Can anyone tell me if the Fort Wilderness cabins are considered a value, moderate or deluxe?? i'm trying to help a friend plan her family vacation and want to see if she stays at the FW cabins, if she's eligible for the % off discounts that they're offering... they're planning to go next month!!! :scared1:

If you have the pin code that's good for all year, they are 40%!

We will have our car with us. Can we drive and park at the outpost to grab the theme park buses so we can avoid the internal bus?

Per Fort Wilderness Gazette;

Can I drive my car to locations within Fort Wilderness, and where do I park?

No, motor traffic is permitted when entering or exiting the Campground only. Please board the bus for all destinations within the Campground. Parking is permitted for one vehicle at your campsite or Wilderness Cabin; additional parking is located at the front desk.

It appears to me that you are allowed to park at the Reception Outpost (front desk) and take the external buses. :)

Yes, parking at the outpost is what my parents do each day since we usually have too many people to fit on the golf cart! No problem at all.

We are staying in the cabins this September. Our first time, can't wait! We will have a golf cart but thought it would be nice to be near the cabin pool and laundry. Which loop would be close or recommended? Thanks in advance!!

I thought you only got 30% for them since they are considered a moderate.

I called to get a quote for our December trip - we were thinking of going over to the Fort from WL to save some money. I was quoted $167 a night, rack rate is $270 so it was definitely more than 30% that the PIN gave me for moderates.

The cabins are great but they don't book up quickly, so they do sometimes offer a higher discount to fill them up.

2500 is right next door. It's a great location.

Thanks. I think I will request that. The Fort map is a little difficult to tell exactly where things are located. 2500 loop it is. Thanks again!

I have really enjoyed this thread. We are planning a trip to WDW in Dec 2011, and are thinking about staying at the cabins. There is a lot of great information here, but my question is, how combersome is it with an infant? Mom wants to stay at contemp, but I don't know if I want to pay that much. If we can transfer their timeshare to BLT, then it's a no brainer where we will stay if not, I'm not sure. I like the idea of the cabins, but my reservation is the extra changing of vehicles (boats, and buses) and lugging all the baby essentials (stroller, bag, etc) on and off golf carts, buses and boats. If anyone has had any experience with this I would love to hear it. Thanks!

I would say that having the extra space (i.e., a seperate bedroom) is a big plus when traveling with a baby, so that you can put him/her down for a nap and even to bed on the early side, without you and your wife from having to sit in a dark room and be quiet. That said, if you could get BLT, that is probably your best bet. But I wouldn't think that a FW cabin should be a too-distant second choice. While I haven't done this with an infant, we stayed in a cabin earlier this year when my youngest was just over a year and had a great time. I actually think 'traveling' (on boats, etc) is actually easier before they become mobile, so it might not be that bad...

I too received 40% off a cabin, where moderates are 35% and Delux are 40%. Shocked the heck out of me, but was not going to question it.

I never received an email pin this year, but decided to call and check , and i did have the 40% off PIN attached to my account.
was able to get the cabins for $162 a night in November/December

booked :)
