I'm just wondering how everybody did with the double dollars from the Disney VISA which expires 6/30.

We had two good double dollar months! April I timed things to pay 2 semesters of grad work for DH in one month, and this month we bought a high ticket item ($2000), and I'm paying the balance for our cruise even though it's not due yet! I've got the cash in savings (earning almost nothing!) so I'd rather earn some more Mickey Ice Cream Bars!!! LOL!!!!

Anybody else time things to maximize the double dollars offer??? BTW---our threshhold was $750, and it went up to $850 after our big month in April.

Also BTW---we never carry a balance! They must hate us!

Was this a special deal? I never even heard of it, just checked and I didn't get double on any of my June purchases (including down payment on our package).

They gave me a $850 threshold, I used my card alot. My mom, who barely used it, got a $150 threshold. I wrote to them expressing my displeasure, but they basically said too bad. In the meantime, I got a double points offer on my AOL Visa, so I am using that instead now.

They sent this offer to "selected cardholders". You may not have been "selected" :( .

I never got the postcard itself, but saw it posted on the DIS, so I called to find out if I had it. It ran from 3/15 through 6/30.

Mine was for anything above $550 that I could get double dollars. So last night I decided to payoff our Disney Cruise that we're taking in October. I had to pay if off by August anyway so I just did it a little early to get the double dollars.

I never got the offer, so never got double dollars.

On the other hand, after having the card 18 months, I will have $425 for our August trip.

not bad!

Not selected for this promo, so I didn't get any! I received the same reply when I asked "too bad, there's nothing we can do about it."

My mom, who barely used it, got a $150 threshold.

Interesting. I had a $150 limit also. I hardly used my Disney Visa because I was getting miles with another card. I did use it as my primary card for the promotion. I wonder what will happen when I stop using it again (on July 1st).

Has anyone had luck calling Visa and asking for the double rewards? My DH just bought a new car and charged it (we'll pay it in full when the statement comes in). It would be very nice to have double dollars on that purchase!

We tried to charge our new car a few years ago and the dealer wouldn't take it! We were trying to get extra miles.

Hi ceecee. The dealer told us the same thing. First they said the limit was $3000. Then they said that they sometimes do $5000, but the highest they could go was $7000. They would "allow" us to charge $7000 then bring a check for the balance the next day. I told them no, we wanted to charge the entire amount or we wouldn't buy the car. They didn't argue with that.

They ran the purchase through as three separate charges so as not to alert the "big bosses" of our blatent rule breaking.

I realize they pay 2% to the credit card company, but I wanted my points!

They may pay 2%, but they get their money right away, and no question about it. (well worth the 2% fee, which they pass on to us anyway.) I'm glad you got your points!!!

I am doing the same. I will switch back to my other card with better rewards on July 1. I hope they realize that 1 % is not that great of an offer and maybe change the program.

Not only is 1% not that great, but you only earn it on complete $100. Say you spend $99 one month, too bad, no Disney $. At least Discover gives you true 1%, if you spend $99, you earn 99 cents.

We did not get this offer but DH got a letter in the mail the other day saying "Make your next purchase by 8.31.04 and receive 10 Dream Rewards Dollars." So that is pretty nice. He already got the $25 Dream Rewards for opening his account and the 7 for 4 Dream Maker package with $100 Disney Dollars at check in. He got a lot of bonuses I got nothing:) Not even the pin since I already had a BankOne card and they just switched it to the DV.

I am also earning double rewards on purchases over $150. I never used my card much before this offer. Now I use it on everything and pay it in full when it is due. I haven't received all of my double rewards yet (they come 4-6 weeks after the close of the cycle, I think). My double rewards for April were just posted. So far I have $80 in rewards and another 49 leftover on my card from our last trip. The card expires in 12/05, and we are planning a 12/05 trip, but if the trip falls through, I'll just buy some parkhoppers since they are good forever.

I haven't done a final check, but we started out with double for purchases over $150. When the promotion started, we were in Paris on Spring Break, so the double points made all those high prices easier to take. (I paid for 10 DLP one day park hoppers with it!) We also paid for some plane tickets during that time, as well as a very expensive dental implant that was not covered by insurance.

I started using the card exclusively in January, and so far have earned $387, $60 of them "bonus."

We pay our balance every month. I figure that by our May 2005 trip we should have about $900.

We got the 850 threshold too. Have considered joining DVC for a few years and decided to take the plunge this month. Charged all of it to Disney Visa, then paid online. My husband has the card and I am an authorized user, but there is no card in my name. I got a postcard for 50 reward dollars to sign up, but when I called they wouldn't let me. She said that nothing came up asking for a promotional code when I gave her my information, and even though I had it on the postcard, she said the computer gave her no place to put it. Anybody in the same situation been successful with this?
