I was being sarcastic; trying to make a point of how the "howard offends me so I want him off the air" argument sounds.

Oh, ok! :teeth:

I find it funny what people think is disgusting and filthy....

My bookkeper and I were talking about this today because my friend thinks breastfeeding is disgusting...she thinks it is gross to use something that is s**ual to feed her child...some people don't think nudity is disgusting..some don't find strippers to be filthy...

again...don't care, just allow me to be my own moral compass

I don't like him either but I just change the channel.

No Biggie to me.

Many people love him so to each his own.

Get a grip. His show has to have the same things edited as other shows. At best any show on non-pay TV is going to be PG13.

It makes me sick when shows are edited and people still want them yanked. If you don't like it, block it and don't watch it.

It's posts like these that prove to me that shows should NOT be edited. People are still going to complain and not block them. Might as well allow those who want to watch, to watch it all.

Howard is still a slime-ball (and a whiner). :sad2:

I can't stand howard stern...he is like a perverted 13 year old boy that has never grown up....its actually really sad, he is pathetic. I would never listen to any station that had him on it and thats just another reason I will get XM instead of Sirius...I won't support anything that has him on it.

Umm -- so you are supporting the company (XM) of Opie & Anthony -- the radio duo that sponsored (and was fired for having) a sex contest with points given for having sex in St.Patrick's Cathedral? To me, that is far worse than anything Stern has done.

Don't like Howard Stern, think he is highly over rated. That said, I don't watch or listen to him, so I change the channel if he is on anything. I know what time his show comes on, so I don't trun that channel on at that time.

I'm sure there are shows that I love that others would think were trash, I would hate for someone to try to censor those or take them off the air.

We do have the freedom to watch or not watch a show. I choose not to watch his.

Good point. Perhaps if avoiding "supporting" Stern is so important you should give up cable/satellite TV too. I believe "E!" is on most basic cable packages. I've had cable for years and have never seen Stern. The car stereo DW gave me for Christmas comes Sirius ready. She didn't see much difference between the two for my purposes since I will listen mainly to music. I'll sign up and just not listen to those stations. I doubt Stern will be "getting rich" off me listening to the other 118 stations.

Don't care for howard myself-big, rich whiner IMO.
On the other hand-he has a following, no doubt about it. He should have his place on the dial somewhere, be it on TV radio, satellite radio, etc.

What is disturbing in the big picture of what kids can see and what time they see it. Upon leaving for work at 2 this morning, I realized our son had left his TV on the Cartoon network--the first words I heard were "Stop looking at my ----- (men's private part)" I about died-and on the Cartoon Network of all places.

Granted-not many kids are up at 2-but some are-especially when they are sick. Why is that needed on a seemingly "child" network at anytime of day? Wouldn't it be wiser and cheaper in the long run to replay old Looney Tunes or Tom and jerry at that time of day?

Cartoon Network has something called "Adult Swim" I think after 1am..I am not sure, since I am usually asleep by then but DH is a firefighter and he has mentioned that some of the guys watch it at night

just out of curiousity, was the body part called by it's proper name...p***s?
Is that really a bad word?? I mean...it is a body part and I wouldn't want someone looking at mine either... :rotfl:

I don't like Martha Stewart, but that doesn't mean I won't get Sirius because it would be "supporting" her. I like a dozen other channels on Sirius. It's really not hard to avoid things you don't want to watch or listen to.

There is one show on Martha to check out. "Whatever with Alexis & Jennifer." That's Alexis Stewart, Martha's daughter. She is the anti-Martha. The show has only been around for a month and is really starting to kick off. I find it funny how many guys listen to the show and call in and they always claim they "accidently" stumbled upon the show. Yeah sure. ;) They probably tuned in hoping to hear beauty tips.

I remember years ago when we finally got Howard Stern up in Canada, I was very curious because of all the hype. Well, what a disappointment. Do people really like this guy? WHY? I can't imagine anyone beyond college frat boys being entertained by him. I listened to his show for a week and maybe laughed two times. Not worth it.

The guy is an idiot. I am not talking about IQ. But he is an idiot.

Am I against censorship? Well yes, generally. However, I don't think the loss of a few more tasteless sexual comments would be a great loss to society.

I never would want Howard taken off of TV and his humor doesn't really offend me. I just dislike the way he acts; he seems slimy and childish to me. OK, it may be just an act but it's not one I like.

There is a shock jock by the name of Russ Martin in the Dallas area that I really love listening to. He's a nasty guy but he's so funny and witty. I've tried Howard's show but he never even made me crack a smile.

But to each their own. Now will anyone admit to enjoying Jerry Springer? Someone must! ;)

This guy is a slime ball
Have you ever met the man; not the radio/tv personna(?). Turn the channel or switch it off. Did you listen to his 9/11 coverage, it was BRILLIANT, journalism at its' finest. . .

A slimeball is someone who has gotten on television and exploits women by rating their body, promoting S&M products, having 5 guys stand behind a naked women with blurred out body parts and pretend it doesn't effect him while wearing sun glasses. Everyone can love Howard Stern on satellite radio as much as they want. I don't care anymore how many people have said they like this guy on the radio-I'm not talking about Satellite radio or any radio-his show on the E Channel is pornographic and he is a Slime Ball!

With all the hype with Howard Stern going to Satellite radio, I thought he wouldn't be on tv either. My husband asked me why I thought he would loose his tv contract too.

This guy is a slime ball-his show last nite had to be rated Triple X. And his side kick Robin-she is there to make us think what he does on his show is OK.

I'm not a prude-but I'm sure anyone's kids could have seen that last nite on the E Channel-ABC Family on my cable is the channel right next to it.

You don't have to watch and now a days it seems like most tvs have ways to block channels you don't want your kids to watch. What happened to free speech?

He's not holding a gun to those women's heads. They are there of their own free will, so how is he exploting them? And his E! Show was his radio show. What S&M products, and how would you know they were S&M products. All I can think of is the tickle chair, and that's funny. From your description it sounds like you stopped and watched for some time. :rotfl2:

It was like a car wreck-you know you shouldn't-but I did. (i.e. promoting a table, whips, chains-telling Stern she was going to go purchase the table and other products.) Enough-alright!

I am so sorry I started this thread. I'm surprised I haven't been kicked off or the thread locked. I have never started a thread that should not be on the DIS. And this thread should not be on the DIS. I apologize to everyone I offended and I will never start a thread that opposes people's freedom of speech again.
