how do you get a vip pin?

I've often wondered this myself. What's the criteria? Were they sold or given out at a certain time?

They were given out early on in VMK. When you completed all the quests, you could take the "VIP Tour", you got the pin when you completed that. Sadly, thre tour is no longer given

how do you get a vip pin?

First we have to determine whether you really mean a pin or a badge. A pin is something that can be seen in inventory or if worn, in the character description at the bottom. A badge will show right under the character's title in their description and can only be removed by VMK.

A VIP badge was obtained from the series 1, 30/30 VMK card. This card used to be given out when a player completed all the in-real-park quests and also allowed the player to take the VMK Insiders Tour in the park. This card and the tour was retired toward the end of 2005.

A VIP pin is something that has been first obtained (not sure if it is tradeable or not) directly from VMK. At first it was given to a select few players when they had VIP badge codes that did not work. Now it will be received if you win a Best Guest / Game / Quest room more than once.
