How Young is Too Young for Tower of Terror

My 41 inch 38 pound 5 year old (yeah, he's tiny) LOVES the Tower of Terror! He was finally tall enough (just barely) to ride last Sept. and he was THRILLEd!

It's a HUGE range. I see 3 year olds that love it, 30 year olds that are scared to death and vice versa. For a lot of the rides, the reaction is similar, but for this one there's a lot of diversity. I say take her on! If she doesn't like it, she doesn't have to do it again.

My son was a month shy of 4 when he rode and once was enough. I told him over and over it was scary and it dropped he insisted he was going on with us and not staying with grammy. He didnt cry or scream but when it stopped he said very loud I am glad thats over. Everyone burst into laughter. He doesnt want to try it again this year. LOL.

I took my 4 and a half year old on it, and he loved it so much he went a 2nd time! I would suggest warning your child that he will "bounce up and down like Tigger", so he or she realizes what the ride is supposed to do, and knows it is safe. Also tell them that the seatbelt will hold them in, but they will feel like they bounce out of their seat. This way they know what to expect. :thumbsup2

I will add...do NOT tell your kid that any rides are "scary". If they are told they are scary, they will not like them. Use the word "fun" instead. Rides they are not tall enough for...yes, call those ones scary, it may even prevent them from throwing a fit that they can't go on them.

My daughter was 4 on our first trip and loved it. My 7 year old son cried like a baby and my 31 year old husband wasn't far behind him.

I think the scariest part of TOT for a child is the movie and build up to the actual attraction, I would take them along and then if you have to, take the "chicken exit" and do the switch for whoever got off the line with the child. BUT - make sure that your child, no matter what age, likes fast rides - my kids have all loved it since age 6 but weren't too happy with the set up before the drop.
