How would you handle this???

I would rent points from with DVC Mike, then I would let the owner know since he was vague about the reservation and unresponsive to your questions about the dining plan, you made other plans.

You shouldn't have to be stressed on a transaction where you aren't getting in cooperation.

That's assuming Mike has points to rent, and that there is a reservation even available at this late date. I would continue to pursue it with the person you "rented" from. I guess I'm not even sure you can call it a rental, since you haven't paid anything yet. Did you not even make a down payment?:confused3
 
thanks LauraLea. I just found that site yesterday and added DME. I received a confirmation today saying we are set, but no confirmation number which i found odd.

As for the other comments, I never received a contract as of today and have not put down ANY money. About a month after the owner booked the ressie for me i called requesting a contract, he laughed and said the reservations is made and if he doesn't send me a bill, then its free. I don't want to cancel, and am really looking forward to this trip. I know we have to add dining up to two days before we go, but i don't want to wait that long. I'd feel better if i had a signed agreement and paid money. At least I'd have some legal leg to stand on. Right now, I have nothing and its going to be tough to make a new reservation if the owner bails on me last minute.

Nope, the OP states he has not paid a dime as of yet. With it being so close, that is why I would definitely make other arrangements.
 
No, I havent put any money down yet. I keep checking the confirmation number to verify the ressie is still there. I'm sure there are no AKL 2br villa left. It's busier than I thought in October. There are moderate hotels but then I can't do the dining plan since I already have park tickets and it wouldn't be a package. Not the end of the world.
 

I would definitely make some back up plans. I rented points the end of June and had a lot of requests for February. Reservations at some of the resorts was slim picking on some October dates then.

As far as the dining plan, it's really not a big deal like you said. We did the dining plan the first time this past Spring Break and found it to be a lot of food. We couldn't eat that much and we would have spent a little less eating the way we normally don on a Disney trip.

I have received my Disney magical express tags and vouchers so I am set on that. I still haven't seen any action from the dvc owner. I left emails and talked to him on the phone. He said he'll take care of it. Now we are less than 30 days away.

There isn't any way for me to add dining? It has to come from the owner?

Correct, only the owner can add the DDP for you. I would be VERY nervous at this point. On the other hand, if the reservation is still in system, if he cancels it now, the points go into holding, and will be much more difficult for him to use.
 
Update

With three weeks left, we told the owner we needed the reservation corrected and DDP added by the end if the day or we were going to cancel the ressie and book a hotel through Disney. Fortunately, he finally sensed our frustration and urgency and took care of everything the same day. We have the room all set with everyone's name correctly on it, DDP booked and paid for, and we're happy on our end. We already took care of magical express ourselves. We leave 14 days from today!
 
I felt my anxiety rise reading this. :scared: I'm glad it worked out OP. I would have lost my mind way before now. :laughing:
