first world problems... not!

Had our Anniversary dinner, scheduled for 9pm adr, WISHES at 9:30. Ordered an appetizer, sushi and then our main course - Fillet and dd had a flatbread, ordered wine.

The server brought it out 5 min before WISHES - when we came in from WISHES, the dining area was clearly closing down, I asked for a manager, they didn't come. Our server said there was no dessert. and gave us the bill. As I left, the kitchen area was being cleaned, and I asked if there was a manager - nope.

I really expected a bit more from a 2TS restaurant!

I don't want any compensation. I would just like to know why BOG can do a better job than Cali Grill... and perhaps remind them that having a hot entree after wishes is more enjoyable than a cold.

but it was the best risotto I've ever had!

. . . SERVES do not know if you are going outside or viewing from the table
. . . many folks eat at their table and view fireworks at the same time
. . . if you wanted to go outside, you could have asked for a delayed serving
. . . some do ask if they are going outside, but SERVERS do not have to inquire

when we came in from WISHES, the dining area was clearly closing down
. . . not surprising
. . . the eatery hours are posted as 10:00pm
. . . plus, you did not say how long you stayed outside
. . . even if you came back soon after WISHES, it could have been close to 10:00pm
. . . the kitchen staff have to cleanup and get out on time

I asked for a manager, they didn't come.
. . . keep asking

Our server said there was no dessert. and gave us the bill.
. . . the desserts might have already been put away in anticipation of closing time

As I left, the kitchen area was being cleaned, and I asked if there was a manager - nope.
. . . a manager is always on duty

I would just like to know why BOG can do a better job than Cali Grill
. . . in what regards?
. . . BoG does not have WISHES viewing

and perhaps remind them that having a hot entree after wishes is more enjoyable than a cold
. . . one could ask, but must keep in mind the hours of operation
. . . the schedule clearly says 10:00pm
. . . why should the eatery keep grills/ovens hot and stations manned beyond posted closing?
. . . only a few WDW eateries serve past 10:00pm
. . . should the kitchen remain open longer for 1-2 guests?
. . . CM's have work schedules and like to get home to family
. . . it is your vacation, but our job, and we value our off-duty time

.

NOTE: Our "desk" closes at 10:00pm, then we have 30-minutes to close-down, balance our sales & receipts, bank our deposit, clock-out, and leave for home. I frequently get guests who come up at the last minute wanting services; and sometimes services that require lengthy work. I tell them (politely) to come back in the morning. The hours are clearly posted and not a surprise to anyone. There is no reason to come up at the last moment, as people should be able to plan their time.

If they can't accommodate people after a certain time, then they shouldn't take reservations later then a certain time. An average TS meal is 90 minutes. This means the location should be prepared and able to serve until 10:30pm if they are open for 9pm reservations. Putting away the desserts before all guests are served is not acceptable. It does not sound like PP was lolly-gagging or wasting time, she ordered, watched wishes and tried to finish her meal only to get the cold shoulder. I would have been VERY upset if I paid 2TS for this experience and didn't even get dessert. If nothing else, she should be comp'd for that. And maybe this location shouldn't take any reservations after 8:30pm if a 10pm closing is so important.

There was absolutely no reason for the OP to have received that level of service at a Signature.

I am sorry you had a sub-par experience. I would have expected better from CG

This is not acceptable for a signature restaurant at WDW. When we went last year our server was able to time our meal perfectly so that we had gotten our wine and finished our appetizers (both great recommendations from our server) just before Wishes started. He then told us to take our wine out on the deck to watch Wishes. We came in just in time to be served piping hot entrees. So after Wishes we ate our meals, finished our wine then were served our desserts and offered coffee (declined because we are not coffee drinkers). I'm sure it was well after 10:00 PM by the time we were served our desserts. We were not rushed in any way. It was the highlight meal of our trip.

That's not acceptable. I was a server at the Rose and Crown and we always had guests go out to watch Illuminations then come back for dessert. We had to let the chefs know when our guests were completely done with their meal so they knew when the dessert area could be cleaned and put away.

Once Rusty defends Disney big surprise there. From the guy who doesn't think you need ADRs and that it's fine for Disney NOT to allow contiguous reservations if your staying in multiple locations.

I have always - every single time - been asked by our CG server what our preferences are regarding viewing Wishes and that dictated the food timing. OP, so sorry you received unacceptably poor service.

To answer the original post title....

We would PM an exceptional Manager-Friend at CG. We do this rarely, mostly to say "hi", because we LIKE her. As every meal we've had at CG, about 4 times per year, for a good 12 years, has been exceptional? To us? CG is ranked in our top TWO of Signature Restaurants. All personal opinion, just us, your mileage may vary, and any other disclaimer you choose.
