How will Disney handle package cancellations because of Air Controllers

Family vacation coming up next week. For the first time (in over 30 years of family vacations at WDW), I turned the room reservations into a package because I wanted to add The DDP. Now, some of my adult kids might not be able to fly down (I always drive as I live in the Carolinas). I haven't called Disney yet, as I won't have time till later, but how do we think they are going to handle Package cancellations due to the Air Controllers/Budget issue? Certainly, this is more than just an airline reservation being cancelled. This is something nationwide. Any insights?

I'm not sure that Disney has any responsibility if some flights get canceled. Maybe if the flights were booked by Disney as a part of a package?

Probably much as they do now if a delay happens. I'd let them know of a delayed flight, new expected arrival time.

I don’t speak from personal experience. But generally speaking Disney by all accounts seems to be willing to work with guests when situations are out of their control. As @sponica said, you might have to move the packages to a later date initially, so maybe have some dates in mind when you call. Later you can cancel or adjust dates as needed.

Sadly, you won’t be the only parties affected. So I really expect Disney will work on some accommodation for everyone.

You won’t know until you need to ask unless Disney publishes a temporary policy (if they have to do that you’ll know, it’ll be News). For now read the package change and cancellation policy as that will be the baseline worst case. If you have travel insurance read that.

If all guests booked into a room will be unable to come, you can push the package date out -- there may (or may not) be a $50 fee which is usually waived if the new price is more than the old price.

If any guests are still coming, you can likely drop the guest(s) who aren't. Again, there may be a fee.

**Be sure to cancel any ADRs or other reservations if necessary. Those will not automatically cancel with the room.

So, if I am able to book into the future, it wouldn't be until next November (please note, I travel down a few times a year as an AP and I drive) because this is the family trip where all my adult kids and grands come down. That being said, the rates in November (hotel rooms) are extremely high. Would I be able to change that November 26 room rate down later on in the future after I do my next solo trip and do a bounce back or even an AP discount? In other words, if I move a reservation in the future, can the rate be changed?

The rate can be changed if there is availability for those dates. Sometimes it takes a change in room configuration, view, or different date range to grab a discount. Being somewhat flexible helps.
