How 'well' do you know your neighbours?

We live in a Cul-de-sac. There are only 8 houses. Ours and one other house are original owners. Most of my neighbors I couldnt pick out from a line up. That works for me. Very different from my block growing up.

I know the ones right around me pretty well but not as well as my neighbors growing up. I am the only single guy on the street, everyone else is either married with kids or are grandparents but I still talk to them when I see them. The family across the street has two girls who I believe are 3 and 6 and when I'm out and they are out I'll play catch with them or help them on their bikes. A couple of times when I had my friends kids over because I was babysitting I would take them out and they'd play with their kids or some of the other kids down the street.

I like knowing my neighbors, it makes it feel like more of a neighborhood.

I have 5 neighbors that surround my house. One on either side, one behind, 2 diagonally behind. 1 of them is a very good friend. 2 of them are nice people that I could depend on in an emergency if necessary. 1 is a nice lady but we don't have too much to do with each other because she always seems so very busy. I think I could depend on her in an emergency if I could catch her at home! 1 is an idiot so I ignore them. Across the street is a church and a cemetery, so not much help there, although the cemetery neighbors are quiet! .

I know 2 pf neighbors very well one is a old couple the nicest people you could meet- the other is ummmm crazy - she told me she wanted to slap my dd for putting our cat outside.

now the other neighbor well she is nice but her dh is aweful they don't talk to us - the other one on the other side well that is a rental and can't keep anyone in too long...

I know every person on my block (24 homes) some better than others but we all know each others names and say hi at the very least...my immediate neighbors on either side of me and the 2 right across from me I know very well...go to each others kids/grandkids Christenings, birthday parties etc (on is an older couple with no kids but they come to everything and if they have a party we all go too!) we all get together at Christmas and exchange gifts-I would hate living anywhere where people couldn't be bothered to get to know their neighbors!

getting together with neighbors best happens when there are community events. On regular days, its best to stay out of each other's busy life.

I live on a cul de sac as well and know quite a few of my neighbors very well.
For the most part we get along... There is definitely some drama though!!

I talk to a few of my neighbors, but only really spend time with one of them.
I should mention that I live in an area that its a 800 yard walk to either of the only 2 houses across the street They have 150 acres between them and most houses on my side all have 300 feet frontage. No one behind me and there is only a total of maybe 25 houses in a 1 mile span.
