How We Became Addicted to a Mouse...A Family's First Trip!

Awesome update! I had tears streaming down my face as you described y'all being on Main Street for the first time. And Annie's reaction to the castle. Priceless!!! I agree with you that the character meals are worth it. We went to Chef Mickey's for the first time on our last trip. We all loved it. Reid thought it was too funny that Mickey "cooked" his breakfast! Can't wait to hear more!!!

joining in! Your kids are too cute! I thought you were explaining my ds when you were explaining Jane in your intro. I swear he's the male version of her!

I've decided you have a great husband. Minnows bake shop chocolate supreme cookies! That's a winner in my book!

I'm glad that Annie has recovered. I can't imagine that feeling.

Nothing in life beats the beats the look on your childs face when she first glimpses the castle!

I'm glad your first trip was at a slow time and you were able to slow down and just let the magic unfold!

Great update! I love Annie's reaction to the castle!

I love Chef Mickey's. I do have an ADR for Sept but was thinking of skipping it this time. You've possibly changed my mind :)

Don't you love the boat ride to MK from the Ft?? I love morning boat rides!

Awww...thanks! The whole thing was such a magical moment. I really didn't expect it to hit me like that. I had read about other people getting teary in front of the castle, but I NEVER would have thought I would be one of them. Just wait until we leave though...lol! Now I tear up at youtube vidoes of people surprising their kids with Disney trips. And the new commercials get me every time.

We loved Chef Mickey's. I had read so many bad reviews, but we had a great experience. We debated doing it again next time, but I think we are going to try for Ohana's breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. Annie had a FANTASTIC experience with Stitch that you'll soon read about, so he is her favorite character and I know she would love breakfast with him. :)

Two Janes...the thought truly scares me... We better never get them together, the world may spin off it's axis. :rotfl:

I DO have a great husband. His love of all things Disney has only strengthened that belief.

And I LOVE the October trip because we were able to take a slower pace, expecially with never QUITE making rope drop. Our next trip is in June, so I know we will have to really plan things out. I am nervous that we will miss our relaxed touring from our first trip, but there are so many things we want to see in June that I am hoping the trade off with be worth it.

Great update! I love Annie's reaction to the castle!

Don't you love the boat ride to MK from the Ft?? I love morning boat rides!

The boat ride is SOOOOO great! We thought briefly of staying somewhere else next June, but that boat ride sold us. I love the atmosphere of The Fort and I ESPECIALLY love that boat ride to MK. Nothing beats it. :yay:

All caught up

Good deal! Now I'll try to give you something else to read tonight!

I'm mostly a lurker but your trip report really got my attention. You have such a nice looking family! Love your clear and consise writing style - you paint such a nice picture of what you're doing and how you're feeling. Off to a great start! :thumbsup2

After riding PoC, we decided that Jamie would take Jane back to the cabin for a nap while I stayed with the big kids at MK. It was too easy to get back and forth from the cabins with the boat to not take advantage of a nap for Jane. We decided that on our first day I would stay with the big kids and then we would switch off on our last day of vacation and Jamie would stay with them while I took Jane to nap. The INITIAL plan was for us to all go back for a rest/swim time, but the big kids and I were itching to stay at the park. Many of our INITIAL plans didn't quite work out though...:rotfl:

So, after bidding goodbye to Daddy and Jane, I decided to put my DIS knowledge to the test. First, we grabbed Fastpasses for Splash Mountain. While waiting on the time to come up, we decided to go to Philharmagic since we already had those hard to come by Fastpasses. :lmao: This was a great idea and a hit with both the kids. Philharmagic is a great 4D movie where you not only see the sights, but also feel them as well. Donald Duck was such a laugh that Jay had to buy a Donald on his way out of the feature.

We took a few pictures in front of the castle and tried HARD to remove that stubborn sword. No luck there though!

DSC01930.jpg

Our Fastpass time was not up yet, so we thought a snack might be in order. Totally intended to hit Main Street for an ice cream sandwich cookie. BUT THERE WAS A PARADE BLOCKING MY WAY...WAHHH!!! :sad2: I never did get to try out Main Street bakery. NEXT TRIP FOR SURE. At any rate, we ended up in Fantasyland at Storybook Treats. Jay got a rootbeer float, Annie got a brownie sundae and I got a strawberry shortcake sundae. I have no comparison to Main Street Bakery, but that was a GOOD sundae!

Finally, our Fastpass time had come up, but first we needed to grab Fastpasses for BTMR. After getting those, we went to ride Splash. Despite getting stuck on the ride 4 times, I think this was a top ride of the entire five days in the parks. The kids loved it, as did I. The story is such a great one and its such a well done and LONG ride. We had no wait because of the Fast Passes. BUT, I will admit, that when the ride stalled RIGHT as we were going up the hill to the top of the big drop, I almost had a heart attack. I think I hid it well, but I was really nervous our log was just going to topple off the ride. :scared1:

After getting off the ride, our BMTRR Fast passes were not quite up, so we went over to Tom Sawyer’s island. You know, just to kill fifteen minutes or so. AN HOUR LATER WE WERE STILL THERE. I didn’t think I would ever get those kids off that island! Just goes to show you the things that will be interesting to kids are not what you expect!

DSC01932.jpg

We explored the entire island and then Jay got caught up in the fort action where they were firing guns. He was having the best time. Annie and I were enjoying a good game of checkers. When we finally completed our game, I had to DRAG the children off the island. The lure of BTMRR was strong though and it didn’t take too long for them to get excited about moving on.

We rode BTMRR, which was Annie’s favorite ride of all. She was upset when it was over and wanted to go again, but with a standby line of over an hour, it wasn’t going to happen. I told her she could ride again with Daddy on Friday. Jamie can’t remember if they actually DID ride that friday. Clearly, the ride made an impression on HIM! :rotfl:

Now, we had ridden all the big stuff that we had planned on that day, so I let the kids pick what they wanted to do next. We walked around for a bit and did some exploring, and then they decided on Aladin's carpets. And just so you know, I have a great fear of heights. Roller coasters don't bother me because they are moving fast, but I hate, hate, hate ferris wheels. And I kid you not that I was actually trying to avoid Dumbo. Yes...I am that bad. So, I end up on The Carpets of Death with Jay and Annie. They gleefully climb into the front of our carpet and I am in the back.

DSC01934.jpg

Do you see the devious looks in their eyes? It's because they know they control the up and down function in our carpet. Little devilish children. And I really tried not to clue them into my fear because then I KNOW I am going to suffer, but it was right about the time that Jay figured out how to BOUNCE our stupid carpet that I stupidly yelled out, "Don't DO that!!!" :rotfl: And then they made me suffer. We bounced the whole rest of the time. And I spun around on The Carpet of Death and prayed that we would all come out alive. :rotfl2:

But we DID live. Long enough to exit the ride and make our way back to Main Street to meet Jamie and Jane. We were distracted by The Imporium and items were purchased. Thus, the money burning a hole in Jay’s pockets would be eased yet again. After the Imporium, we went to The Chapeau, where we got hats and had our first magical moment...free embrodiary! Yay for First Visit pins! Jamie and Jane caught up with us in the Chapeau and we spent a LOOOONNNNGGGGG time waiting on our hats. While we waited, we enjoyed the ambiance of Main Street and entertained ourselves with the Cast Members who were drawing with water. Completely amazing!

With hats firmly on head, we decided dinner was in order. I had planned for us to eat at Columbia Harbor House for that meal. And on the way in, we saw that there was NO line for the Haunted Mansion. We decided to go ahead and jump on, even though it was late. A good move, since that next Friday it was so packed we never got a second ride. We walked right on though and soon were meeting all the happy haunts. Jane was not too thrilled with this one, especially the plunge into total darkness, but she never did cry. Jamie and I had planned to ride with Jane, but Annie didn’t want to ride with Jay and no grownups, so I jumped in her doom buggy and Jamie went with Jay and Jane.

After that ride, we did finally decide to eat. We went to CHH as originally planned and got a bunch of food for us all to share. It was all very good and I would go back for sure. As we left CHH, the Electric Light parade was in full swing. We had thought to leave the park and head home, but got caught up in the parade and Jane seemed to LOVE it. She was so so so excited! So, we stopped and decided to enjoy the moment. We watched the parade, watched Jane get excited. Jay and Annie were sooo tired at this point...after all, THEY had had no nap. But they hung in there anyway. As soon as the parade was over, we realized that we could easily watch the fireworks. This was totally unplanned since I figured Jane, who normally goes to bed at 7:30 would NEVER last that long. I remembered a shortcut to the castle and we took it only to find that the PERFECT SPOT was wide open with NO ONE standing there!

DSC01943.jpg

See how close we were? So close that I couldn't even get the whole castle in the picture. And we were so close that we had a FANTASTIC view of the castle, right in front of us. Which CLEARLY means a fantastic view of the FIREWORKS, right?? We were at the Kodac sign that announces, "Perfect picture spot!" What better place to watch the fireworks!? Right under the...trees. :rotfl: Ahh...but I did not even SEE trees. All I saw was beautiful castle and a HUGE empty spot. I OPENLY bragged about my Disney knowledge and how AWESOME I was for finding us this spot. :sad2: Like, in FRONT OF OTHER PEOPLE. These were the same people though, who stood in the same dumb spot we did, so at least we have THAT in common. Then the fireworks started and I realized we couldn’t see a THING through the trees. Epic fail! We managed to move a bit, but never did get a good view of those darn fireworks. Lesson learned. Go to the beach at FW to watch fireworks. Next time, I’m springing for the dessert party so I can be assured of a good spot to watch. AND dessert. Win win! ;)

And when the fireworks ended it was mass exodus out of the park. We were literally shuffling along all the way from our fireworks spot and out of the park with ten thousand other people. I promise you, the park was not crowded until THAT moment. I had both of the children by the hands and Jamie was pushing the stroller. Of course, THIS is when Jane decided to melt down. Not that I BLAMED her, mind you. I think we all felt like that. Note to self: watch fireworks from beach at FW!!

It took us close to an hour to get out of the park, but luckily, our boat was waiting on us and we were back at FW and in our cabin pretty quickly. We got everybody bathed and bedded and it was 11:15 (yikes!!) before we got everybody in bed. We repacked the park bag, and it was lights out for us all before long.

Next up...our DHS day!

Sounds like y'all had a great day at MK! :thumbsup2 I'm so proud of Jane for braving Haunted Mansion. I haven't even attempted that one with our 3 y/o son. I'm pretty sure he would have a meltdown in the pre-show for the ride.

Awww...thanks so much! And I am so glad you are joining in! I am mostly a lurker too. But I figured that I read so many trip reports before going that I couldn't wait to write my own story. Writing is a hobby for me and it is a great outlet to help me relive my trip...for free!! :rotfl:

I think Jane did well with HM because she was juuuuust young enough to not "get it". I'm not sure we would have that experience now if we did it again. In fact, I am wondering if there is anything that WOULDN'T scare her now. Her favorite new phrase (Other than "Quit it Annie and Jay!!") is, "It's KARY!!!". Obviously translated to, "It's scary!" She says is about EVERYTHING. Hopefully this will pass a bit before we go back or it could really be an interesting trip! :rotfl: Just remind me not to START with HM next time!

New updates coming soon. Must finishe So You Think You can Dance first though! :lmao:

New updates coming soon. Must finishe So You Think You can Dance first though! :lmao:

So glad I'm not the only adult who loves that show! We are relocating next week & I've already told my husband that on Wednesday night (while we're sleeping at my mom's), he has to get Reid to sleep so that I can watch it. Then, when we move in our new house on Thursday, he knew to schedule DirecTV to come do our installation that afternoon so I could watch my show! :lmao: I thought it was good tonight, although I disagreed with the judges on a few of the people they kept & a few they let go.

Oh goodness, NEVER let your kids know you don't like heights! :rotfl: I'm glad they weren't too hard on you :)

How nice you and your DH took turns staying with the big kids and letting Jane nap. Was it hard touring MK with just one adult?

Sounds like a great end to your day! That's really cool that you had such an easy return to nap. I'd make the whole family nap if it wouldn't mean so much time lost on the buses. I love CHH! It's one of the best cs at mk! I really wish we had made it over to Tom Sawyer. We were kind of wushu washy about it, but I've seen it in quite a few TR's lately and it looks fun!

Just got caught up and loving it. We are also a family of 5 and we stayed at ASMovies this year...BIG mistake, it was far too small for all of us. Really wished we would have stayed in the cabins, so I like reading about how it works for families.

Our #3 is also a handful!:lmao: He is definitely our "Grand Finale"! Funny, I thought..."oh this is the 3rd one, he'll be a piece of cake...we have this parenting thing down by now". And God laughed at me on that one!:rotfl2: But we love him too much to trade him in!...I just say he keeps us young by keeping us on our toes!:lmao:

Anyway...Keep writing so I can keep reading.:goodvibes

:lmao: I'm rolling at scheduling your move around it! Sounds JUST like something I would do! It's my favorite show on television right now. And JAMIE even gets into it, which is so funny because he made such fun of me when I first started watching. It may help that my big, bad Marine Corps father also loves the show. And I agree with your disagreement on a few of those. There were some I was surprised who made it and a few I was surprised that didn't. All in all though, I can't WAIT for season 8!

Yeah...I tried to hold it in, but that first big bounce just GOT me and they couldn't wait to do it again. I kept threatening them though, and telling them I knew where they slept!! :rotfl:

Touring MK was easy with the big kids and just me. They pretty much let me call the shots on where to go and were game for anything I suggested. They are pretty easy going kids for the most part, which makes things easier. They are also close in age and have a good relationship (although they will TELL you they hate each other, they are really best friends) so that made it easy too. We could get A LOT done with Jane napping, but we missed her because part of our fun is watching her fantastic reaction to everything. The taking turns thing worked out great because it was so easy to get to and from MK and such and easy commute to FW. I wouldn't do it at any of the other parks though.

I surprised myself with how many days we DIDN'T nap. Jane really needed one (still does, in fact) and is a really early bedtime girl, so the days we didn't nap it was IMPERATIVE to get her to bed on time. The days we did nap, we had a bit more leeway. I had planned a nap into our touring plan every day, but some days we just threw the plan out of the window and kept touring. We didn't have any ADRs, so it was easy to keep going and make up a new plan if we needed to. Next time, we will schedule some ADRs, but I am going to plan for lunches so we can work those into our breaks and still have the freedom to do what is necessary at night. :) And Tom Sawyers Island is not necessarily where *I* would have chosen to spend an hour and a half, but the kids were having such a great time that we just went with it. I was a little wishy washey about it too...

Just got caught up and loving it. We are also a family of 5 and we stayed at ASMovies this year...BIG mistake, it was far too small for all of us. Really wished we would have stayed in the cabins, so I like reading about how it works for families.

What IS it with that third baby? Maybe we are just tired and worn down by the older two kids?? :rotfl:

Did you stay in the suites at Movies? I thought about doing the Family Suites the next time we go (and now I'm having a moment and thinking those are at the Music anyway so probably my question doesn't apply...) but don't know if we can give up our Fort atmosphere. We LOVED it so much. Not just the cabins, but the whole experience. It was such a great place to relax after touring. :)

And without further ado...the next installment is coming up shortly!

Day two started out bright and early with the big kids pulling Jane out of her pack and play. Everyone woke up happy and we ate breakfast in the cabin and got ready to go to our second park...DHS! We had big plans for the day, including a trip to Downtown Disney that evening. We waited for a LOOOOONNNGGG time for a bus that morning. They all seemed to be going to Downtown Disney (this will come into play later). After a while though, we were finally hooked up with a bus and on our way. For the record, this is the only day we really had an issue with the busses. For the most part they were pretty quick and were never so crowded that we had to wait for another one to show up.

DSC01946.jpg

This is a picture of the kids waiting for the bus. The only reason I include it is because I want you to check out Jane's socks. Wait...rephrase that. I want you to check out ANNIE'S socks that Jane is wearing. That are NON-MATCHING. And too big. And that Jane insisted on. It was just THAT kind of morning.

As we entered the park, the kids were very excited by the big hat, though I will admit it was not NEARLY as breathtaking as the castle... We did stop to take a few photopass pictures.

That look Jane has? That's her Blue Steel look. :rotfl:

Our plan of attack, once we got to the park just after rope drop, (should have gotten up earlier ) was to hit Toy Story Mania for a FP and possibly ride the ride. Wishful thinking at best...even in October. There would be no standby line as it was WAY too long to keep Jane happy and the FP return time was not until 2:30 that afternoon. We picked the FP up even though we were not sure we were going to make that return time with Jane needing a nap. We decided to play it by ear though and just see what happened. Our first ride of the morning was The Great Movie Ride with no wait at all. Lots of fun, though scared the pants off of Jane. Once again though, she never cried, just held on tight and hid her face a bit, especially during the alien scene. I think she would LOSE it if we took her now. She was probably juuuuust young enough to tolerate it. The big kids loved the gangster scene and Annie particularly loved the Wizard of Oz section. She loves that movie though, so I knew we had to do that ride just for that.

After The Great Movie Ride, we were going over to watch the Jedi Training that Jay was so excited about. But Annie spotted CHARACTERS!!!! There would be no Jedi Training for the girls...we sent the boys on ahead and told them we would meet up with them later. Jane elected to go with the boys...I won’t lie, I was not upset by that decision in the least! :lmao:

First up, was Daisy and Donald. Annie was VERY excited to see Daisy. She waited very patiently for her turn and then gave BIG hugs to Donald.

Photo0035FourBySix.jpg

After that, we tried to see Piglet and Pooh, but the line was closing down, as were the others that we were attempting to get in. Annie was disappointed, but we did manage to find ONE more character line to get into. Stitch was just arriving on the scene. Annie didn’t really know Stitch, but wanted to meet him anyway. So, we got in the short line and ended up with a great experience. Since the line was so short we got lots of one on one time with Stitch, who LOVED Annie. She had on her fuzzy Mickey ears and Stitch rubbed them and nuzzled her. She fell in love with him right there. They talked for a while, he gave her ears some more rubbing, gave her lots of hugs and special attention and we took some cute pictures even though there was no PP there. Instead, the man behind me offered to take some pictures for us. Thank you random guest!

DSC01955.jpg

As soon as we got out of Stitch’s line, Annie needed to spend her money on a stuffed Stitch. She still sleeps with Stitch every night.

Now, this Stitch experience will lead to our greatest heartbreak on this trip. It will also lead to the most magical moment we will probably ever experience at Disney. How’s THAT for foreshadowing? ;)

After our Stitch experience we spent a LONG time looking for the boys. An eternity, in fact. I am, quite frankly, surprised we are not STILL LOOKING FOR THEM. We knew they were with the Jedis, but couldn’t seem to locate them in the crowd. And surprisingly, Jamie was not answering his phone. So, Annie and I continued on and tried to check out the Beauty and the Beast show, but that was a no go with a HUGE line. We took a picture on Sunset Blvd...

Photo0044FourBySix.jpg

and then FINALLY Jamie called me back and we caught up with the them. We went to the Star Wars shop and spent a good bit of time and money there. It’s probably good that Jay DIDN’T hit the lego store on the first night...

With Jay’s pockets a little lighter, we walked over to the Little Mermaid show. This was a huge hit with the kids. I wasn’t sure what to expect since I had read so many not great reviews of it. I could see where the complaints were, as it was cut pretty short, but it was still well done and my kids ALL loved it. Jane even sat still through the whole thing, which shocked me to no end.

After the Little Mermaid show it was soooo time for lunch. So with gumbling stomachs, we went in search of Toy Story Pizza Planet. DHS does a really good job of hiding things and we got quite lost trying to find the restaurant. We got a good tour of the place as we walked aimlessly for about twenty minutes in the heat. We finally happened upon the Pizza Planet, not because of our fabulous Map Skillz, but because of sheer luck. I stood in line to order for us, while Jamie took the kids to explore the games. Eventually, Jay came back to help me with the food (because his father made him :rotfl: ) and we delivered pizzas to a great table Jamie had found for us. We got the kids pepperoni pizzas with Mickey Rice Kripsy Treats and Jamie and I had veggie pizzas with salads. The food was surprisingly good! I had read so many reviews about how awful the pizza was, but we disagreed and thought everything was very much to our satisfaction. Who knows, maybe it was the long walk in the heat that worked up our appetite. The kids played some of the video games while Jamie and I finished up our lunch and then after a quick bathroom break, it was time to hit the park again.

Jamie took the big kids over to the Hollywood Tower of Terror (this decision would later “haunt” him...get it?? Haunt?? I crack myself up!!) while I took Jane to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. I thought this would be a good after lunch spot for us where I could relax and she could play a little while. Clearly, I should have read the description better. That place was ENORMOUS. I have no pictures of this adventure with Jane because I was busy chasing her through every nook and cranny and had no time to stop and take a photo for fear of losing her in the great abyss of the playground. Jane had no time to stop and pose either because she loved every second of trying to outsmart her Mama! She played in the water area, explored the tunnels, and made me crawl up the giant spider web. In a dress. And sandles. And if you’ve ever seen that thing, then you know what a feat THAT was. It is made entirely of ropes and goes WAY WAY WAY up into the sky. You crawl all the way UP and then all the way DOWN. And did I mention my dress? And sandles? We only did that once despite her complaints. :rolleyes1

We played for about an hour before the big kids and Jamie joined us. I was WORN OUT when they arrived. I was shocked that Annie wanted to ride TT, but she was determined. Guess who HATED IT? Poor girl. I felt a little sorry for her, but was glad she had at least tried it. I had planned to ride next in the single rider line, but decided to skip it since Jane was getting tired and we wanted to get Mickey bars and use up some snack credits at the Starring Rolls bakery. Priorities and all.

We walked over and stood at the Starring Rolls counter trying not to drool too much on the clean counters. We looked for a while before making our selections. You know, with something like 87 snack credits, you have to be CAREFUL. I don’t even remember what we bought now, other than that I’m sure it involved a butterfinger cupcake and a red velvet cupcake. And probably something else to do with chocolate.

We decided to take a bit of a break before leaving the park and eat some Mickey bars in the shade. Jane was getting a bit cranky, it was getting late, and since Jane was needing a nap before going to Downtown Disney, we decided we would eat and then go, forefitting our Fast Passes for Toy Story Mania. How good could it be anyway? It was a hot day and all the concrete in the park was making us sweat.

Would we really follow through with leaving the parks before riding the coveted TSM?? Would we REALLY give up our FP? And most importantly, would we make it to Downtown Disney before Jay’s pockets exploded with unspent money?? If only I could answer all the world’s questions so easily.

Great update and great pictures! I'm so glad Annie got to meet some characters while Jay got to go see the Jedi training - that's a win/win! Can't wait to see what all happens later in the trip with Stitch! And I'm so impressed by you going into the huge playground with Jane. I didn't even dare bring Reid anywhere near it. I just knew he would get in there & I'd never see my child again! :lmao: Can't wait to hear if y'all really left or stuck around for TSM!

That is a great picture of Annie with Donald!
You are right about DHS- I'm pretty sure I could walk around there for days and still find things I never knew were there!

Annie LOVED meeting the characters. Thankfully she rolled with it very well though if we were in the middle of something and couldn't stand in line and wait. I tried to help her out whenever I could because she was so cooperative. And the Stitch story coming up is so great. It all comes into play over a few days time. I know we won't ever be able to top that magical moment! And I'm so thankful that I have it to remember. :cloud9:

Don't be impressed with my taking Jane to HISTK playground...it was PURELY lack of research. :rotfl: Had I looked at that any harder, I would have taken her straight to the Disney Playhouse show and waited in line to get in. Don't get me wrong, the playground was great, just better with another adult to switch off with. It was a really good workout. And I earned my cupcake that day!

That is a great picture of Annie with Donald!
You are right about DHS- I'm pretty sure I could walk around there for days and still find things I never knew were there!

Thanks so much! That picture made it worth any line we stood in. She was so cute with Donald!

I thought I was pretty good with a map until that lunch time experience. :rotfl:

Soooo...more trip report coming in the next few nights.

We've been gone the last two weeks visiting family. First, a condo in Destin, Fl with my inlaws for a week, and then driving to Mississippi with my parents for a week.

Evidently, this two weeks of traveling wasn't excitement enough for Hurricane Jane. We drove home today and about mid-afternoon of the nine hour drive I had an anxious two year old. So, I do what I always do with a cranky two year old. I BROKE OUT THE CANDY. Bribery. It's what's for dinner.

I gave girlfriend a bag of candy corn. She was a HAPPY girlfriend. Eating her candy corn, watching her movie and being so cute in the back seat. I busied myself with my phone and making trip plans (I kid you not...a full YEAR away and Jamie and I passed a nine hour drive discussing ADRs). Then I looked in the back and noticed something was up with her nose.

"Jamie," I said. "I think she's got candy corn up her nose."

Jamie is a CRNA, so he has a nursing degree with a masters in Anesthesia. Airways are his thing. And he does not like it when they are compromised. :rolleyes1 So dude whips our minivan over on the shoulder of the interstate faster than I would have thought possible. And there, on the shoulder of I-40, we commence to digging in our two year old's nose to remove the candy corn she had stuffed up there.

You wouldn't THINK candy corn would fit, would you? In ONE nostril we had tiny pieces of candy corn that took some serious digging to get out. And there you have it folks...a sentence with words you never want to see together: "Nostril" "Candy corn" and "Digging".

After we dug in the first nostril a bit (still on the side of the interstate, I might add) Jane started rubbing the OTHER nostril and crying. Then, she started sneezing and an ENTIRE PIECE OF CANDY CORN flew out. At this point, I started eyeing the bag of eaten corn, trying to determine how MUCH had made it's way into her nose and how much made it into her mouth.

So this? This is my life right now. :rotfl:

Oh...and in case you're wondering, it took about 20 minutes for the sneezing to stop. Good times.
