How We Ate The World for Free. COMPLETED! #189 Our final food quest.

I'm in. Good memories Jenny. She is right, we didn't enjoy the food much.
I did enjoy the dessert that she didn't talk about. Want another update.

Subscribing while drooling!
Looking through all of my pictures, and that's all I'm doing it drooling! Yum yum. I wish I could be eating some Disney food right now.

Thanks Mom. :)

Sorry to hear about your bad experience at Chef Mickeys. We had been thinking of trying this for breakfast on our next trip - maybe the breakfast food would be nicer :confused3

Laur's princess:

Enjoying your reviews so far - what a shame about Chef Mickeys. My DS really wants to eat with Mickey on our next trip so I guess we'll just have to hope for a better experience.

I'm not sure what was so uncomfortable about Chef Mickey's? Did you not know it was a character dinner? When we were there on our last trip the characters were great and the kids enjoyed it tremendously.

I think what was uncomfortable was the fact that the characters were rushed and didn't seem into it, with the exception of one. If the characters don't seem to want the be there it an be off putting. That was just my take on what was said.

Maybe. We're just not big breakfast eaters.

I still tell other people to try it for themselves. We could've been there on an off night or such. And everyone's opinions are different.

So I say go enjoy it! Maybe if I hear some good reivews I'd think about going back.
Enjoyed reading your reviews. Looking for more.
Thanks. :)
Thanks Tom. :goodvibes

Yes, we were excited about the characters. We had went previously in 2001 as well.

The characters were very rushed and they looked very uncomfortable. I guess you had to see it to believe it but it was just weird. Like maybe they were new and hadn't gotten used to being a character yet? :confused3

We were surprised because we loved it in 2001.
Mmmm, cheese fries. One of my guilty pleasures.
Our's too! We only eat them at Disney, and we eat them a lot there. :p

Also I have to add, we were in the first room off to the right of the buffet. Not in the main dining room. It seemed like they were having fun in there, so maybe it's that.

I still hope everyone has fun there. :)

::yes::

Okay, so this was our first park day! I seriously couldn't get out of the room fast enough. We thought about having breakfast at POP but passed on that in favor on the bakery.

I can't even explain how magical I felt when I finally got to walk under the train station and see Main Street. :cloud9: Well enough of that, this isn't a trip report Jenny!

It was fairly crowded when we got there but we only had a minimal wait. We used 1 counterservice and a snack credit for this? Maybe? I can't quite remember.

I ordered the coveted french toast loaf.

This had a really good sugary sweet flavor. It was a little dry (maybe burnt?) around the edges but that's okay. The middle part was delicious.

My mom ordered the chocolate crossaint. She had drooled over these things for months.
47b7ce35b3127ccebde8b86e41760000002.jpg

I took a bite and instantly fell in love, as did my mom. The chocolate melts warmly in your mouth while the powdered sugar makes a nice contrast. This was so flaky.

And my dad, being a man and all :p, ordered something with meat. The crossaint sandwich.
47b7ce35b3127ccebde8bc61c04b0000002.jpg

My dad really liked this one. It would be really good if you like eggs and bacon for breakfast instead of a pastry. Which we all do sometimes. I thought the egg was done perfectly.

I think we also got a diet coke, or maybe a water.

Will we return? Most likely. I love the thought of sitting and eating pastries on Main Street!

So after that was done we strolled down to Main Street and road a few rides, then we went down to Fronteirland to try Splash Mountain and BTMRR. (I was too chicken last time.) I fell in love with those, btw. We also did a few other things.

Around 1 o'clock we were feeling rumblings in our tummy so we looked for a place to eat. Now, the last two times we went me and my mom have adored the chicken wraps from Pecos Bills (and we've talked about them for years and years) So we thought we'd go have one of those since we were already in Frontierland.

Well the restaurant was crowded beyond belief and we debated staying or going back to the resort for food and rest. After many times getting in the line and deciding to leave and then getting in the line again we decided to call it at a day at MK.

We had an O'hanas ADR for 4 o'clock but we just couldn't wait that long. We were hungry! So we ended up canceling that because we knew since we were eating now there was no way we'd be hungry by 4 o'clock.

We got back to the POP. The food court wasn't very crowded at all, because a lot of people were in the parks. We wanted to share again because we planned on trying to make another ADR sometime way later that night. My mom and I got a pepperoni pizza, cheese fries and a tie-dye cheesecake. I don't remember which drink because those were a pain in the butt if ya know what I mean. We had our mugs so we really did not want more drinks.

We both though the pizza was alright. It was very doughy (we knew it would be and ordered it anyways) and we prefer thin crust but that's okay because by now we were starving! The cheese fries were hot and...cheesy. My mom doesn't eat cheesecake so I had it all to myself, I'm a fan. This was really good. I happen to be really picky when it comes to cheese cake, but WDW has it spot on. The red velvet crust was a yummy attribute.

Again, my dad ventured off to fend for himself. He came back with a burger, fries and a pudding? I can't remember the dessert and we forgot to take a picture of it.

This was your standard WDW burger found at most CS locations. It was hot, and he packed it full of yummy toppings. "Good."

Okay, so we were really really full by this time and mosied back to our rooms with the intention of making a late ADR somewhere. We called and there was quite a bit open at Epcot so we picked Nine Dragons because we really enjoy Chinese food. We rested a little bit, I think I took a nap, and off we were again.

Continued in next post...

It was raining when we got to Epcot and we had forgotten our ponchos so we just soldiered through it. We rode a couple rides and browsed some shops in Future World before making our way to the Showcase.

Nine Dragons was moderately busy (if they were packed, you couldn't tell.) We were seated immediately and placed our drinks orders (2 diet cokes and a regular one.)

Here's one picture I got of the inside. It's really pretty inside and everything is very detailed.

For appetizer I ordered the; Pot Sticker - Traditional dumpling filled with pork and vegetables.
47b7ce32b3127ccebde552efabf10000002.jpg

This was very good. They were perfectly warm and had the right amount of filling. After we all tasted each others appys we agreed mine was the best. The sauce was also very nice.

My mom ordered: Drunken Chicken - Chicken marinated in Shao Xing wine, served cold. It was served really cutely in this little wooden cup.

47b7ce32b3127ccebde56ab22a800000002.jpg

This was also good. It had a bit of a 'different' taste, but I'm guessing that was the wine. I guess we hadn't read the menu properly because we hadn't expected it to be cold.

My dad ordered; Shrimp and Pork Spring Roll - Shanghai-style spring roll made fresh daily with minced pork, baby shrimp and Chinese vegetables.
47b7ce32b3127ccebde550e8abf70000002.jpg

This was also good. Everyone all the table enjoyed it. I couldn't see any baby shrimp but I'm guessing they were in there never the less. The sauce it came in made these over the top yummy.

After we nibbled on all the appetizers, we ordered entrees. I had always known I wanted to order pepper beef ever since I looked at the menu. I love bell peppers. Here's the description; Canton Pepper Beef - Beef stir-fried with onions, green and red peppers with scallion flavored noodles served on the side. It didn't come with any noodles, but sticky rice instead. :confused3

They have dish like this at my local chinese place. This was right up my alley. Very good with a nice flavor from the peppers but it wasn't spicy. I also like sticky rice and they went good together.

My mom ordered; Honey Sesame Chicken - Batter-fried chicken breast served with tangy honey and sesame sauce
47b7ce32b3127ccebde56dd4eb4d0000002.jpg

She liked it. It wasn't overly sweet but the chicken was a little dried out I believe.

My dad ordered; General Tso's Chicken - Hunan-style crispy chicken breast stir-fried in a spicy brown sauce
47b7ce32b3127ccebde56b1a6ab00000002.jpg

He liked this as well but didn't have much to say about it.

We were stuffed and had only eat about 1/2 our plate. We decided to stop then so we could stuff some dessert down our mouth. :)
I got the red bean ice cream because I was feeling adventorous and there wasn't much to choose from.
47b7ce32b3127ccebde56389eb170000002.jpg

Oh boy, I think I've found a new favorite ice cream! It tasted like vanilla except it was much more subtle. It was the perfect texture, just how I like it. I'm definitely going to have to find this somewhere at Epcot this year!

My mom ordered the chocolate cake.
47b7ce32b3127ccebde55d2f6a9e0000002.jpg

I didn't try it but she said it was alright. Nothing too yummy.

And my dad ordered some kind of ginger cake? It's not on the menu.
47b7ce32b3127ccebde562c42af20000002.jpg

I think he said it was strange tasting. Spicy maybe? He didn't like it I believe.

I can't remember the name of our server but he was really attentive but not to the hovering point. He also urged us to try new things.

Would we eat here again? Maybe. I think it might be closed in September but we'd also like to try new restaurants. Epcot has so many yummy sounding places to eat! We did enjoy our dinner here though. And I recommend it to anyone who's on the fence about it. It does get some bad reviews and some good reviews. So it really depends on you.

After that we just wobbled on back to the resort without watching Illuminations or anything. It was still raining so the park was pretty deserted though.

Coming up next...Another day at MK with lunch at Kona Cafe, and a late late dinner at none other than the food court!

I love those croissant sandwiches - sooooo yummy! Nine Dragons sounds like somewhere I'd really enjoy - what a shame it will be closed on our next trip. I'm hoping Yak and Yeti will serve as a good replacement :goodvibes

Nine Dragons looks good, especially the pepper dish you had. I have never really thought about trying this, but we both like Chinese so maybe it should go on the list.

It was really good, but I think it might be closed during your trip. I'm not sure about the exact dates though.

I'll update today sometime.

I've not really seen many review of Nine Dragos. Thank you! Looks great!
