I have a pregnant furbaby that has fleas.. Does anyone know what I can do for her??

Please discuss this with your vet. Over the counter medications and medicated shampoos can be extremely toxic -- avoid ANYTHING by Hartz (on any dog, but particularly a pregnant one). Flea dips are VERY toxic -- do not try without medical advice.

I agree 100% with Daisax, take your dog to the vet.

When you comb fleas out, dip the comb into a bowl of soapy water. The soap makes the water "wetter" & the darn fleas drown cuz they can't jump out! You do need to keep your thumb over the stupid fleas though so you can get them to the bowl!

Maybe a bath in soapy water might help until you can get advice from your vet. The fleas will probably "travel" up the dog's body so you might need a wet washcloth to trap the fleas when they get to her head by her eyes/ears. Good luck! Fleas are no fun that's for sure.

Good advice there. A flea comb is the best thing for treating a pregnant dog. Use your thumb to trap the fleas on the comb in between the dog and the bowl of soapy water. The soap in the water will help drown the fleas, preventing them from jumping out like they will in plain water. You will also have to treat your house and yard or the fleas will just keep reproducing and reinfecting your dog. Good luck! :goodvibes

Before taking my advice, CALL THE VET and ask them if it is ok.

We found out, surprisingly, a human shampoo kills fleas on contact. We ran out of dog shampoo one weekend and washed our dog in Tressemme (the big black bottle). We noticed the fleas washed off and did not move. It did not stun them. It killed them. Since then, we have used it as the 1st wash, then used his regular oatmeal dog shampoo as the 2nd wash. He has never had any reactions from Tressemme. He is a large breed husky mutt.

Again, PLEASE call the vet before using this on a pregnant dog.
