How to surprise kids

We are going to be staying in a condo at Windsor Hills. I have made each of my kids a gift bag that I will give them when we get there. I also have a welcome letter to set out. I want to be able to get the gift bags and the welcome letter in the condo without them knowing what is going on, so when they walk in they will see them and be surprised. I know we have to stop at the office or somewhere and check in. Then I am pretty sure we have to drive to the condo instead of walking there. If I tell them to wait in the car while I go in first they will suspect something, plus they would see me carry stuff in. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get the bags into the condo without them knowing? Thanks!

Could you pretend your lost and run inside to ask for directions? We surprised DD at the airport. It was priceless.

I have a lot of friends who inspect their rooms before they let their families and big bags enter. i.e. checking to make sure it's up to snuff, no signs of bed bugs, etc. Is there any way you can be the "scout" to make sure the room is good to go (i.e. really just plant the surprise)?

Hmmm....that could work. I do always inspect our beds for bedbugs before we stay anywhere.

I would stop somewhere to go to the bathroom about 15 minutes away. Then suddenly say as you approach "uh oh -- something did not agree with me. Honey, pull in there. They have to have a bathroom!" Trust me, no kid will want to be seen with you!

I would talk to the owners of the condo and see if you can mail them the items and them leave them at the condo. I have had email communications with over a dozen owners at Windsor Hills, and they have all been FANTASTIC and helpful. I want to rent from them all, but sadly we only need one house!
