My wife was snoring and did not feel rested so she took the test.
they went over the results and she asked if she was waking up.
They said "yes, 6 times!"
She said wow! "Six times a night, huh...."
They said "No, six times an hour!"
so she got the cpap breather and now I can sleep.

Mikeeee

Yeah, I know what you mean. My DH pushed me and rolled me and finally made me go have a sleep study. I stopped breathing 71 times in a 2hr period. They had to stop the test and put the CPAP on me right then and there.
I got my machine last night and had the best night's sleep ever :cloud9: DH said it's the quietest I've been in over 10 yrs.

OP, if the snoring is that bad, get your guy in for a sleep study. As previous posters have mentioned, it's a health problem not just an embarassment. If the sleep study proves obstruction or apnea, there is treatment. Not getting treatment can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, and accidents due to daytime sleepiness. I actually look forward to going to sleep now :thumbsup2

It really does sadden me when I hear about all these snorers and the spouses that put up with it - or worse yet sleep in another room. Think of it this way -

If you have high blood pressure you go to the doctor for help. And he helps.

If you have ashtma you go to the doctor for help. And he helps.

If you have migraines you go to the doctor for help. And he helps.

The list is endless of things that people go to the doctor for snoring with Sleep Apnea is a treatable medical condition. Would you poke your spouse because they were complaining about headaches? Would you wear earplugs because your spouse was constantly wheezing with their asthma? Would you make your spouse go to the other room because they kept complaining their chest hurt from the high blood pressure?

Yes, I admit that not all snorers have Sleep Apnea. But if you had a condition that could be treated that was affecting not only your life, but your spouse/significant other wouldn't you want to get it taken care of?

I'm sorry - call me the Apnea Nazi - but I just think back to the years that my wife had to suffer from my snoring and it makes me sad. And I hear how other people have the same problem and I hope they go to get the help that I got. :(:(

Bravo minkydog, bravo. I'm glad you got tested!

My DH had the 'snoring surgery' about 3 years ago!!! Removed half of his throat, it seems!!! Worked like a charm!!! :thumbsup2

I can't believe that people physically hurt their spouses over snoring. Would you hold their nose in the daytime? Hit them, kick them??

My best friend won't share a hotel with me anymore because I snore.

People snore. Go sleep on the couch if it bothers you.

Crush up some Ambien and put it in his drink, then smother him. Works like a charm.

Ahh, the Ambien is for me!!!! I have severe sleep issues brought on by the old change of life stuff. But, my dh snores horribly, so put the two things together, and I get only about 3 hrs. sleep at night if I don't take my Ambien!!! Dh tried the nose strips, the throat sprays, changing positions. Finally, he went off to do a sleep study. That showed that he had no sleep apnea but that he did have a snoring issue......ah, I could have told them that. He isn't tired....he is up every day at 5:30 but in bed at 9, and asleep within 5 minutes, and snoring about 8 minutes after falling asleep. He finally went to a second ear, nose, and throat guy (first one found nothing!!), and he told dh that he had a badly deviated septum!!! They recommended that throat surgery but since dh doesn't have sleep apnea, it isn't covered by our insurance, and when the doctor told dh that the surgery was effective in about 60% of the cases, and second surgery was needed in the other cases, he decided to pass it up!!
Now, every other night we split up...if I take my Ambien, we sleep together. Otherwise one of us sleeps in the guestroom.
