"How to rule the World in five days" ** Our very last trip to Disney.. Completed !

I was wondering what happened to our dear Marina. So glad you are back to entertaining you fan club!

So, there we were on our last night in Disney , with a great view of the lagoon, waiting for Illuminations to start.

It had been a gorgeous day. Maybe TOO gorgeous... the sky was getting darker. A huge gray cloud was right over Grumpy's head. Wind was blowing our hair in our faces. But no rain... yet.

We got our food (their so-called taco salad is NAS-TY!) and waited. I freaked every time I saw lightning or heard thunder. Grumpy didn't seem to care - she was halfway through her second Margarita by then and probably wouldn't have noticed if it HAD been raining.

"and in just fifteen minutes, we invite you to enjoy Illuminations, Reflections of Earth"

it's gonna rain it's gonna rain it's gonna rain.....

"and in just five minutes...."

Hurry it UP already !!

Lights out.
We made it baby !!

Hey, what the heck ???
The show had just started when a family pushed their way between two tables, dad stuck the kid up on the railing and then proceeded to video tape the show. They were blocking everyone's view, including ours, and the family's at the next table who had been waiting longer than we had.

We were all (too) polite and didn't say a word. Grumpy & I leaned and tried to watch through the railings. At some point, because the kid kept sliding off the railing, the dad picked her up and stood her up on the other family's TABLE, feet in their leftovers. That was towards the end of the show and they were so stunned they didn't say anything. Don't think it would have done much good anyway since they were clearly foreigners (chador and all).

We could still see okay, though we did have to bend over and stuck our heads, and in my case, lens, between the rails for most of the show :)

I was amazed at the other family's restraint. If I had been waiting hours with my kids, and some guy came at the last minute, stood his kid in my nachos and kept my children from seeing the show, there'd be heck to pay, foreigner or not. Besides the child was decked in High School Musical from head to toe, so they couldn't have been THAT ignorant of American customs.

Anyway.. After almost everyone had left, Grumpy & I took our time to finish our churros and margarita, we had time since tonight was EMH at Epcot.

wanted to do the Mexican ride but apparently everyone and their sister had had the same idea because the line was insane. So we went towards Future World and went to see our bud Ellen instead.

When we came out I tried to gently coax my mom into going on Test Track with me - aka dragged her there while calling her a wimp - but she dug her heels in and there was no moving her after that.

Instead we went on Mission:Space again, the line wasn't too bad. Grumpy was a bit worried about the mexican junk food coming back up (for some reason "Puking Around the World" is not her idea of great last-night fun) but went with it anyway. She kept it down.

We finished off our night with our very first ride on Spaceship Earth. Grumpy didn't want to go but there was no line to speak of, and she owed me for not going on Test Track. Well the first part is a bit boring but we totally didn't see the last part coming and laughed our heads off. The photos looked hilarious because Grumpy had her mouth wide open, and I had looked down when the machine told me to look up. So that's what we're gonna look like in the future ? Oh who are we kidding. That's what we look like NOW.

It was time to say goodbye to Epcot - or so the CMs told us.
We got on the monorail to the TTC, and walked from the TTC to the Poly.

:sad1: I DON'T WANNA GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :sad1:

Nice update. :thumbsup2

Oh I hope no one ever puts their kids on our table, because dh would have a problem, and I need everyone to remain HAPPY at WDW. LOL

You showed great restraint.

Glad you're planning more trips!

Wow at the rude people!! There's no way I would have been able to restrain myself. I probably would have started a riot and been banned for life. LOL

I would have wanted to kill those people! So rude!

Ah, the Poly. I so love it there. It's been a year. Too long!

I am sad your trip is ending! I feel that sad, have to leave Epcot, feeling!

Love the update! That's sad about those rude folks-some people are just oblivious and so consumed with themselves. The video of Illuminations was great and makes me wish I was back there. :goodvibes

Just catching up on emails on yet another snowday here in NY. Just back from POFQ. What a great surprise to see you posted!!!!

Ooohhhhhhh.....that family is making me mad. My husband would have flipped on them. I can't stand rude people like that.

POLY - July 09 - here we come!!!
Any other trips in the works for you?

Great to hear from you Marina.I feel your pain about that last night. It's so hard to leave yet you start thinking about your next trip.I haven't even left yet and already thinking about our next trip. I'm staying at Csr like you will be.

What does Grumpy's shirt say?
Good to have you back.

Great update!

I feel your last night pains. DH & I are feeling the "will we ever get to go back pains now". The economy and me getting laid off in the very near future kind of put a halt to all vacation planning!

Can't wait to hear about your next trip!

Hate that feeling :( We miss the Poly too. I had hoped we could go back this summer, but even with the 7-for-4 deal we can't justify it. CSR will have to do. Oh poor, poor us !

How was your trip at POFQ ?? And when are you going in July, we might be sharing the parks with you (well you and 40,000 of our closest friends).

Hope you have a blast at CSR ! The last night is just too hard especially when the trips are short to beginning with.

What does Grumpy's shirt say?
Good to have you back.

Ah, this is Grumpy's favorite T-Shirt. It says "I love NY more than ever". She begged me to find her one after 9/11.

Great update!

So sorry to hear about you getting laid off :(
I found out this year that I *need* to plan a vacation, even if it's months (or years) away, or I can't even stand to read about Florida. It's just too hard knowing it's there and I can't go. To tell you the truth I'm not even sure if I'll get the vacation dates I want this year, they have not been approved yet, but I *need* to think that we'll get to go.

i loved the port orleans. love how the french quarter is so small. it's one of our favorites...

thank you Marina for the update. Yes, I would have asked them to move. Rudeness just doesn't agree with me. You and Grumpy are such nice people.

I am exactly the same. it doesn't matter long away the trip is I need to have it to look forward to. In 2005 we visited in June and I knew that when we got back we would try for another baby. that put the summer following it out of the question and the summer after that as the baby would be too small. So I had 3 years to wait! I counted down each and every one of those weeks you know! It felt good to break the 100 week mark!!!!!!

:headache: the rude people! I dare someone to do that while i'm trying to watch Illuminations and see what happens!! :headache: :headache:

No! Not finished already!! But wait....we have another TR to start, righ?? :cool1:

Doesn't she have another one to finish besides this one??

Oh boy, those rude people. I'm surprised I haven't been kicked out of DL, because I HAVE to say something when people are so rude. On our January trip, I physically turned a young lady around to show her that she had decided to stand immediately in front of my DH (who was using an ECV) just as the Electrical Parade was starting.
Glad you have another trip coming to ease the WDW homesickness that starts the day you leave.

YAY a report update! I look forward to your reports, they are always so funny!

I don't think I'd be very Disney-like if someone put their kid in my leftovers. How rude! I know it happens like that a lot but it always shocks me.

When are you going to Disney this summer? We are booked at the Poly for the end of September, but are thinking about about cancelling....and MOVING there then instead. Which, well...isn't bad at all.

More updates, please! PLEASE???
