howdy all!

so we have all our pictures back. thus far i have made "blurb" style photo book on shutterfly of our MK pictures for my grandma, taken our main MK shot and made it into a nearly life size, humongous canvas and hung it on our wall (cause i am shy like that), made some pics into our thank you cards and announcements, and made several more photo books (that are on their way) - one for each MIL, one each for my MOH and her mom and then one for us that i made up of all the "non-people" photographs!

so we sent in our DFAP/MK album requests a couple of weeks ago - i wonder what the turn around is that people have experienced?

and we are to pick 50 pics for each of 2 albums that the arndts will provide as part of our package. one is actual photographs in the more traditional album style, the other i think is the "photo-book" style. so i've narrowed my choices to a modest 182!!!! :rotfl:

we have the rights to the pictures so i'm not sure how to select the pics! i've gone through and eliminated the "artsy objects" pictures - because we are making our own book of that. i'm wondering if anyone has some advice on how to pick one genre of the pics for these albums.

and we are still waiting on our video. i guess they are looking at ~10 week turnaround right now. we are at 8 weeks. hopefully soon!

Well, maybe you've thought of this, but it can be good to select shots that, strung together, tell the story of the whole day. These can be a mix of long shots and closeups, overviews and details. You might start by looking for 25 shots to tell the story of the ceremony (from getting ready through bridal portraits afterward) and 25 that encompass the reception, hitting all the highlights. Since you only get 50 shots per book, you might want to skip the identical shots of you posed with each family grouping (if you have these) and just include one big group shot. Then, maybe later, you can do an album of just those family shots.

...Or, like me, you can make a 248-page Blurb album with every single shot your heart desires! :rotfl:

:rolleyes1whats the shipping on a 248 page book?? i'm thinking it weighed more than you!! :)

although that is where i am at now. maybe it would be more cost and space effective to have one giant book instead of volumes 1-47!

when i pulled out 183 pics, i THOUGHT that was me narrowing things down.

You've narrowed. Now put them away for a month and don't look till then. You'll narrow again, after having had time away from them.

I'm in the same boat now with picking pictures for photobooks and albums. I agree with Lurkyloo that an album of the day starting with the getting ready and then all the way to the end of the reception would be great. I'm doing two of these now for the Mother in Law and my Mom.

Can you post a pic of the canvas? Who did you order it from. I've been dreaming of ordering a canvas to hang over the fireplace.

I sent our request in for our Album through Disney weeks ago and haven't heard a peep. So I guess I'm no help with the time-frame, lol.

A ten week turn around for the video is great. We have the same videographer and are going on week 15! However, I had DH email him recently and it seemed to move things along quicker. :rolleyes1 It is one of the hardest things to wait for.

I also agree that putting the pictures away for a month is not an option! :rotfl:

I also love the idea of a photobook of non-people photos. I might steal that idea. :goodvibes

i got a (i think) 30x40" canvas from canvasforlife.com . i just found them after endless googling and all. the prices were decent i liked the product and i liked the website. the canvas cam really quickly and is great! i have to say it is ever so slightly uneven on one corner - very slight and it doesn't show at all in the way/place we have it hung. it came packed very well too, but i know that canvases can do that so if it weren't were it is now, i would have called them about it and see what they suggested.

also, i found a promo code online as i was ordering and got another 10% off or something. anyways, i'm really happy with it!

this is the picture we used:

note - the "before" - this is where trace has the tumor aka the light post coming out of his head! DFAP graciously photoshopped the lamp-post off his head, but unfortunately the CMs picking up the garbage on the far right and the people going through the castle would be extra $$ to photoshopped out... sooooo i fooled around with my own picture programs and did a fairly decent job of fuzzing up both of those areas!

then we ordered and here it is!

i'm pleased!

Wow...I love your canvas picture so much!!!! Thank you for sharing. I showed DH this morning and we were perusing that website with me trying to convince him how much we needed one to put over our mantle, :goodvibes.

I love that picture and you did a great job fixing it up. Brian said it looked kinda like a tilt-shift picture.

I love your canvas! It came out so pretty!:cutie:

I have to agree with the other ladies, I think your album should be a story of the day, from beginning to end.

Thanks for sharing the photo of your canvas. Love the picture and how you "fixed" it. I ordered one last week and can wait to get it.

Lisa--LOVE your canvas...it turned out so beautiful! I love the way you two are in focus and the rest has that soft ethereal almost fantasy/dream feel. Just gorgeous!!

Thanks everyone! Really this picture was the tipping point to buying the CD! Well, after Dara removed the:lmao: tumor!!

Yeah, we haven't even thought about sitting down and selecting pics for our album from the Ardnt's. I don't wanna do it! :rotfl: I don't know why we're being so lazy about it, but I figured there's no rush to it. Also, do we pick 50 and then they make two identical photo albums? Or do we pick 100?

I absolutely love your canvas!

I think you could do either way which complicates matters to me!!! I also know Vicki said we could add more pics but I am not sure what that would cost especially if it were every pic!! I'm kind of leaning towards doing what Carrie suggested and making a soft cover gigantic wedding picture book, something to leave out. I'm still not sure what to do with 50 pics. I think it will be along the timeline suggestion though!
