How to Order When Sharing a Meal?

Assuming sharing will still be allowed when we visit and unless the teenage appetites (14, 12 and 10) take over, we plan to share at several meals.

What is the best way to go about this- do we mention which food will be shared when we order or do we wait for the food to arrive and then ask for an extra plate?

How do you order at CS locations?

Thanks!

DS and I share quite often. For CS, I just ask for an extra plate. If it something that needs to be cut into 2 pieces I ask them to do that for me.

For TS, I tell the server we are sharing. They usually split the meal in the kitchen and bring it out on two plates. I then adjust the portions. (I eat more than DS).

I have found WDW to be very accommodating w/ sharing meals. :thumbsup2

I just tell the waiter we're going to split _______. It almost always is split in the kitchen for us.

For CS, it's typically just a burger so I just put mine on a napkin or ask for a 2nd plate.

A lot of the time when they spilt meals in the kitchen you end up with the full serving of the side (ie fries, veggies). It makes it easier for the wait staff if you let them know up front that you are going to spilt the meal. We spilt a lot of our meals. We usually spilt everything from the appy to the dessert. There is so much food!

Totally agree! Disney is very generous with the food even when sharing! My son ordered the cheese soup at LeCellier and I asked for two extra spoons so my husband and I could try it. We got three 3/4 full bowls of soup (and only charged for one).

At the table service, simply tell the server that "we are sharing *fill in the blank*".

When you are given your tray at the counter service, ask that person for another basket, plate or whatever.

do they let you share meals at table service restaurants if you are using the DDP? or does everyone need to buy their own? im assuming the buffets are per person.

When i booked our trip, I was told everyone in our room needed to be on the same plan. I have a 4 yo who eats next to nothing. I wasnt planning on putting her on the plan. She usually eats a couple of bites off of my plate. They told me everyone in my room had to be on the same dining plan, including her.

If you share meals, you will end up with a lot of credits left over.

I dont know about Disney, but around here, buffets cant be shared.

you wouldnt really be left with anything if you use the left over ones for breakfast a couple days.

Nope, sharing at buffets isn't possible but children 2 and under eat free.

i want asking about sharing buffets, i was asking about sharing meals on the DDP.

I would like to know about this also because the dxdp seems like way too many credits, but the regular ddp doesn't seem like enough. If we could just share a couple of meals, then we could stretch the regular ddp out to be enough.

DD(23) and I. I get a breakfast CS at the resort food court while she gets ready. Typically the breakfast consists of eggs, home fires, bacon, sausage, a biscuit and 2 drinks, juice (large) for her and coffee for me. Since she only drinks half of the juice, it goes in the fridge for the next day and, since I have a coffee maker in room (POFQ), we'll probably get waters to take to the parks with us.

We then also split a CS for lunch. Places like Cosmic Ray's, Peco Bill's have huge portions. Then we try to take our dessert to go. We especially like the apple slices - nice and cool and easy to eat while waiting in lines. And then we can get something "good" with our snack credits!!

By dinner, we're ready to each eat our own. Although appies are no longer included, there are a few places that have one we love & we'll split it and pay OOP. We sometimes eat dessert there, sometimes take it back to the room for a midnight snack.

We go in Sept and find this method gives us plenty of food without being stuffed in the heat!

I think you might be surprised. I can't imagine eating any more than this and we're not a family of small appetites!

We're not big on CS meals. We'd rather eat 2 TS meals a day, a late breakfast, and then dinner. We could pay for some meals out of pocket, but it doesn't end up being much cheaper than the dxdp that way.
