HOW TO HOP: Getting from One Park to Another

that straightforwardness sometimes comes across as cranky.
We don't mean it to, but it does. We really are very nice people over there...really.

Oh no...I didn't know there were TRANSPORTATION BOARD SPIES over here!:rotfl:

Actually, Diane is quite right. Some people get cranky over there (usually not Diane).

I have learned a lot from the Transportation board...you just have to have a little thicker skin!

(And I know nice people can get cranky...I like to think I'm one of them...);)

Some more questions...:worship:

Best way to get from MK to Poly? I know one can walk from MK to Contemporary (less than 10 min) and that's how I prefer to get to Contemporary, but what about Poly? DH & I want to get to the Poly Beach at about 9:15pm to watch 10pm Wishes.

cheers,
:flower3:

Two ways:

Resort Monorail. Route: TTC > Poly > Grand Floridian > MK > Contemp. > TTC > (loop runs clockwise)

Shuttle Boat. Route: MK> Grand Floridian > Poly >MK (repeats all day)

Allow 25 minutes (average) to get from MK to Poly, MUCH longer if it is following a parade, fireworks, or at park closing.

Thx a mint Robo for all your great posts! :goodvibes

Sorry, I should have been more clear...QUICKEST way from MK to Poly? And what time do you think I would have to leave MK to get to Poly by about 9:15?

cheers,
:flower3:

It takes me awhile to gather all of my sources for a more complete response.

If you take the shuttle boat, you will already be very near the Poly beach.
If you take the Monorail, you will have to walk all the way down to the beach (maybe 10 minutes, if you know the way.

POLY and TTC area>>

Got it - sorry did not mean to be impatient :goodvibes Thx a mint for the info, the map makes it really clear. We'll definitely take the shuttle boat. :thumbsup2

A third way:
Express Monorail. Route: MK>TTC then walk to the Polynesian. Probably faster than the Resort monorail since you don't have to make two extra stops.

Thx a mint for the extra info, ahecht :goodvibes

I asked this a bit earlier but it might have gotten buried :goodvibes I take it that the direct bus from DHS to BB goes to and from as well (i.e., I can take a direct bus from BB to DHS)?

If so then this thread and that info will save me 2 legs/hours. I'll go directly from BB to DHS instead of back to Dolphin and then onto DHS. :)

cheers,
:flower3:

That's okay now. DH said he doesn't want to leave our wet stuff in a locker at DHS, would rather "we" rinsed and hung it out back at the Dolphin first. So instead of commando I agreed that we'd head back to the Dolphin. I can be flexible, sure... I guess :lmao:

So...If I wanted to go to Animal Kingdom Lodge really early in the morning for breakfast and I am staying at Pop Century...Would I take the bus to Animal Kingdom (or any park for that matter) , then get on the bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge from there? I am trying to remember if there is even a bus stop at Pop Century going to the Transportation Center...:confused3

If you are going to AKL for breakfast, wait for the DAK (park) bus at Pop, and when it arrives, tell the driver that you are headed to AKL (resort) for breakfast.

(S)he might (MIGHT) be able to take you directly to the AKL resort before or after the DAK stop.

The early morning buses are usually making "breakfast runs" and many will be happy to take you to the resort near the parks that they are driving to.

Just ASK.

If not, taking the bus the trip to the DAK park,
then boarding the AKL bus from there will work just fine
That DAK-to-AKL run (once underway) takes about 180 seconds to complete.
(But you are not allowed to WALK it... no sidewalks.)

I'm unsure about that.

I am sure that there are buses both ways (or at least there were as of last Summer). There was a picture posted to the other "Buses between parks" thread that showed the sign at DHS that listed buses to Blizzard Beach (which was oddly labeled Disney's Blizzard Beach Resort), and in the 1 hour I spend waiting for a CBR bus at Blizzard Beach this past August I saw several buses that said DHS on them.

What about Typhoon Lagoon?

We never go to the water parks, so I have no idea about "direct to/from theme park" connections.

Here is my advice for hopping to all four parks in one day. this is my wife and I's favorite way to spend our last full day of every trip!

from Hotel take bus to AK; From AK take bus to HS; From HS take boat/walk to Epcot; From Epcot take monorail to MK!

I know it sounds crazy, but it is so much fun, especially at uncrowded times of the year! Don't forget to get a Photopass in every park as proof!

Wow! This helps me sooo much.... this is our first trip to WDW (or anywhere, actually!) Healthy DH, me (mom) and 18 and 20 yo daughters... we get in May 2nd, Sat evening, take it easy... then Sunday I hope to do the following, please tell me if it is feasable/reasonable....

AK at rope drop, stay till mid afernoon or so, DHS for Fantasmic, then on to MK for the evening EMH...

is this doable? The transportation info on this thread makes me cautiously optimistic we can swing it... lol

If we DO manage this, would you all suggest we go DHS to EPCOT to MK or go straight from DHS to MK?

I am such a newbie to all this that I almost panicked when I learned the TTA would be closed during our trip, thinking that was the TTC and we would not have transportation anywhere *blush*

As you can prolly tell from my previous post, I'm a newbie too but I'll add my 2 bits...

unless you only have 1 day at WDW and HAVE to see all 4 parks, I don't suggest that strategy. :sad2: You'll spend a lot of time doing transportion, getting oriented at the park, then have to leave. I would only park hop to 2 parks/day max. MK and Epcot are full day and still not see it all parks. If you do rope drop at AK and stay til evening EMH somewhere else your party will be so exhausted the following days will be a drag, IMHO. An afternoon rest break is much needed. Believe you me, I go commando at the parks (and drag DH along :lmao: ) but even that is too much for me. :worship:

cheers,
:flower3:

I understand what you are saying, think I did not explain myself well enough, let me try again! :)

Ak in the am is our first choice...
then want to see Fantasmic, which has limited showings in May, but DOES show that night... it is at 830, so we could perhaps go to POP and chill for a couple hours, then take the POP bus to DHS around 6, with the sole intention of waiting in line to see Fantasmic... then when that is done head over to MK for the late EMH. We will not be going to Epcot that day, except/unless DHS/EP/MK is a faster route than DHS/TTC/MK

The next day is scheduled as a sleep in day... plan to go to BB and float in the lazy river. CLear as mud? We are there from the evening of May 2nd to around noon on May 8th. We have the park hoppers with the water park option.

Thanks!!!
