HOW TO HOP: Getting from One Park to Another

My family is going to WDW for a day next Wednesday. We planned on going to MK for the day but will start at HS to ride the Toy Story Mania ride hopefully meet Buzz & Woody. I have a feeling the HS will be busy as it is a Fantasmic day. We are staying at AS Music and have a rental car.

What would be your strategy?

1-Take the Disney buses from ASMu to HS then to MK and back to ASMu at night?

2-Drive to HS then drive to MK?

3-Drive to HS then take the Disney bus to MK and pick up the car at night?

4-Drive to MK (early) leave the car then take the bus back to HS for opening?

5-Just stay home?....too much to try and do.

1-I rate this at 70%.
2-I rate this at 30%.

3-I rate this at 10%.
4-I rate this at 10%.

5-I rate this at 00.00%.

Have a great trip!

(I don't intend for the above percentages to be added together to make 100%.
They are just my "rating" of the advantage of doing each plan.)

We brutally abused the Hopper option this past Thursday. I allowed a (slightly spoiled) six-year-old to control the schedule with a bit of guidance all week. Wednesday night she informed me that she really needed a make up day to catch certain things at each park. So, I said what the heck.

We left ASMu at 8:30 to AK where we rode Kilimanjaro Safari and met all the characters on the Greeting Trails.

At 10:45 we "hopped" from AK to EP where we got a Fast Pass for Soarin' and went off to do two Kim Possible Adventurers and a standby ride on Test Track.

Around 2:30 we "hopped" from EP to HS just in time for the Block Party Bash. After the bash we managed to get a walk in at 50's Prime Time Diner where I did eat all my veggies and we kept our elbows off the table.

By 6:00 we were seated for Fantasmic. 7:00 showing of Fantasmic and we completed our last "hop" over to MK just in time for Wishes.

Only bad trip of the night? MK to ASMu took forever to get a bus and they were packed tight.

Where do you catch the boat from HS to head to Epcot. How long does this usually take?
Thanks!

It takes a while, it makes stops at the Dolphin/Swan, BC, and BW before making it to Epcot which brings you to the back gate near France and UK, the trip was at least 30 to 45 minutes, I would take the bus unless your not in a rush. The boat launch at HS is right out side the gate to the left, when you leave the turnstyles go straight towards the water and go to the left at the water, there is probably a sign but you will see the dock as you head toward the left. Also note that there is no AC on the boat, it was a really hot day we took it and the wait was long so we were in the sun till the boat got there, it would have been nice to get on an ACed bus... :offtopic: which reminds me does anyone else notice that the buses are FREEZING at the end of the day on the way back to your resort? IDK maybe it's just me?

Once the boat is loaded and underway, the ride between DHS and Epcot's International Gateway takes 25-30 minutes, including the 3 interim stops at the resort docks.

one more pls...:worship:

What's the quickest way to get from the Poly to the Boardwalk area?

I'll be watching Wishes from the Poly beach and will be leaving with the crowds from that beach and I guess the crowds of MK so am looking for our (DH & I) quickest way back :goodvibes

cheers,
:flower3:

Hmmm...fastest way I can think of offhand would be to take the bus from Poly to Hollywood Studios, and then walk up the path to the Epcot Resort area - it passes right next to the Boardwalk. The walk is about 15 minutes or so. If the Friendship boat is right there and there is no line, taking that to the S&D and walking from there might be a tad faster...I think the boat stops at Boardwalk last after the S&D and Y&BC.

I suppose that may depend if HS is still open after Wishes and the buses are still running though.

That is what I was thinking as the backup, although after Wishes the bus could be really crowded.

Oh, it WILL be crowded. ;)

That Boardwalk bus may also be "shared" by 1-4 other resorts in the Epcot area, as well.

This is great info! Here are my problems, oh ye great transpo minds:

1) I have an annual pass. Hubby does not. On one day, he will take DS to BB while I gallivant at whatever park I feel like, then we will probably meet at DTD for older son's high school band and choir performance. Which is better: A) I drop them off at BB and then I drive to a park, and then I pick them up at BB and we go to DTD (I am not a brave driver); b) I drop them off, go to a park, then they take a bus (and how would they do that) from BB to DTD; C) they drop me off at a park (and can they drop me off, or would it have to be at say the Contemporary adn then I take the monorail), they park at BB and I take a bus from a park to DTD; or D) they drop me off, they pick me up (and where), and we all go to DTD? Boy this gets complicated.

2) On another day, hubby wants to golf (off property, probably) and DS and I will go to AK. He will probably be done before we are, so he wants to meet us at AK. However, remember, he doesn't have an AP and he is resistant to paying for parking. Any way around this, short of us leaving the park and meeting him somewhere to escort him into the parking lot on my AP?

I've used the bus system several times and found it workable, but never in the situations I describe above! We've never tried to combine having a rental car and the bus system, and trying to go in separate directions, so I'm a little bit baffled. Thanks for all your help!

Where are you staying?
If it's at a Disney resort, just take the buses everywhere anyone wants to go (except golfing.)

Otherwise:

1-D. You can walk between MK and the Contemporary. That would be a good spot for drop-off and pick-up.
HERE is a map.

2-Save the parking receipt and take it to Guest Relations with your AP for a refund.

Surely you mean DHS to Epcot.

If you're staying at a Disney Resort, Disney will pay for a taxi for you to get to and from their golf courses (including tip). Just ask the Valet Desk or Bell Services at your resort. See http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...etailSpecial?id=GolfTransportationPage&bhcp=1 for more info.

Thx a mint for this doconeill and for mentioning that HS has to be open still - a detail I would have totally missed. I checked the hours and HS closes at 7pm that nite and Wishes is at 10pm so I guess this won't work. :upsidedow

Another route.

Poly to MK on monorail.
Bus to Boardwalk.

Thx a mint Robo. Good to know we should be prepared for :rolleyes1 :crowded: :rotfl:

cheers,

I promised, therefore I shall Deliver. I semi-have plans set up. I think. Maybe. Subject to Change. ;)

From a transportation viewpoint, how does it look? I know there are park to park buses & have no worries about that, though I do want to try a boat or two. I'm more anxious about POFQ to Resort areas and when the transportation stop running.

I realize I'm probably worrying about nothing, but that is the way I roll. I like knowing times; I don't like "winging it". princess:
