HOW TO HOP: Getting from One Park to Another

This is beautious!

My one fear for my Disney trip is getting completely lost to where I want to go. Ok, that didn't make sense, but you know what I mean!

I didn't realize that their had always been buses that ran btwn all the parks..for some reason I was under the impression you had to take a bus to resort and then transfer there. Well with the exception of MK to Epcot..just transfer at the TTC right..but for the others..no clue I could have gone directly from AK to DHS!

You learn something new everyday :-)

You know...I can never understand why people say they didn't know there are park to park buses. Every single bus stop board tells which buses go where. And they all have signage that states there are buses to the other parks. If you stop, and actually look at the bus board, at AK, you will see where the buses to the other parks are at. Same thing at the other resorts.
I will admit that going to another park from MK can be iffy.....you do have to head to the TTC first.
There is little excuse for not being able to figure out the bus system at WDW. If you are confused, ask a bus driver. They give good info...it's their job.
I really don't mean to come across as harsh, but all you have to do is look at the signage! It's right there, as you approach the bus stops.
Now...if you want to get from one resort to another resort, I'll admit..that takes some investigation.

Thanks for this information...it is new to me, too. Normally we would just drive from park to park if we wanted to hop. I have a few questions for you:

Is it typically quicker to drive or take a bus? How often do the park to park buses run (are wait times long)?

Are the parking lots open for a while after the park closes? For example, I believe AK is closest to our (offsite) resort, and it closes earliest. What if we parked there and took the bus to other parks that stayed open several hours later. Is this possible?

Any answers, input, advice, comments, etc. is much appreciated. :goodvibes

1-Is it typically quicker to drive or take a bus?

2-How often do the park to park buses run (are wait times long)?

4-What if we parked there and took the bus to other parks that stayed open several hours later. Is this possible?

1-"It depends" is the best answer, sorry to say.

2-Depending on luck (and time of day,) every 5-25 minutes.

3-You can get back to the parking lot of a "closed" park, but it is not just a "walk-up and get on a bus" situation.

4-I don't recommend that you park your car in a lot of a park that will have been closed over 90 minutes when you want to get to your car. While it is POSSIBLE to get there... it will be a hassle.

Errr, okaaay. Perhaps, to those of us, who have never used the WDW transportation/bus system would like to make sure to have information first? Geesh.

I am saying I didn't know because I truely DID NOT KNOW.

You are coming across as harsh-but I see you already know that.

I am not ignornant, I try to do as much research as I possible can, I read the Disboards regularily, I pay attention to what I do and my surroundings, clearly I am not the only one who didn't know this and after 4 trips to WDW I have no clue why I didn't see the signs because YES I do read the signs at the bus stops-how in heavens earth would I ever get where I am going otherwise??

I think this thread is great and was very happy to see that someone was sharing this infromation and that I have some additional knowledge to make things easier on the next trip-but really you could have saved your harsh comment directed at me, I would hope that the next time you have a question that no one makes you feel silly for admiting you didn't know something.

You have always been able to get between the parks...
since they first built Epcot and the Epcot monorail.

The Epcot Monorail was completed and operating BEFORE Epcot was open.
Guests could ride over and see the construction.

I remember doing this. It was fun!

I've been visiting WDW for a very long time and things change all the time anyway. Don't worry about asking, that's what these boards are for!! I find out new ways each time I visit and beside the buses there are boats and monorails betweens some parks. THere is even a boat from Port Orleans to DTD as well as a walkway between EPCOT World Showcase and Disney Studios. They are fun to use as well.

Thank you all for this great information! :cheer2:

Well, this is news to me too! :) Tell me more about this walkway. How far is it? How long does it take to walk from one park to the other (at a moderate pace)?

Here it is >>

Figure 30 minutes to walk between Epcot and DHS at a steady pace.
About the same amount of time if you take the free Friendship Boats that
constantly traverse the distance with interim stops at all the Epcot Resorts throughout the day.

Okay, to those of you who felt I was harsh, I apologize. I certainly did not intend to make anyone feel stupid or idiotic...that is just not my style. But....there is signage at each park, showing how to get from one park to another. There are thousands of guests, who have never ever checked in internet site as to how to get from AK to DHS..they just read the sign and go.
I realized that there would be those who felt I was being harsh. But, on the Transportation board, we have a saying...there is no pixiedust in transportation. We like to be as helpful as possible, all the while realizing that we have to be very careful about what info we put out there. Wrong info can severely impact a guest's vacation. I'm just used to that no-nonsense attitude over there. Again, my apologies for the way I stated my thoughts.
