How to get your kid to wear Magic Band (and keep it on)?

I would always wear my son's band in addition to mine. Never had a problem.

I'd try putting it on a lanyard. I've thought about doing that for us on hotter days so we don't get uncomfortable with it getting sweaty.

My DS is 21 and has down syndrome. He refuses to wear his as well. And honestly I don't like to wear it sometimes either. I usually carry a small Crossbody bag in the parks. I usually end up with both bands on the handles of the bag. They are long enough it's easy to reach the Mickey head without taking the magic bands off the bag.

So part of me really wanted to write "duct tape" LOL!
Seriously my son loved wearing it. got his favorite color. Cast members knew his name when he went through FP line. It opens all the magic lines. Does your son want to do sorcerers of the magic kingdom? My son loved starting the game with the MB instead of a key. He can tape it on the ride photo monitors to get the pics.

"Its mickeys magical band and only big kids can use them."

Let him decorate his MB with whatever he's into. Give him some stickers, tattoos, or paint pens and let him go to town to make it his own then he may be more inclined to Wear it.

When my DD was 4, I did duct tape hers on each morning. Just a small piece around the snap and not because she didn't want to wear it but because she kept unsnapping and re-snapping it over and over and over and over and over...... see where I'm going with this, LOL ::yes::
It drove me loco :scared:

Great idea. My autistic son wore his for 5 seconds then threw it on the ground. I ended up wearing it on my other wrist.

Personally I wouldn't force the issue. I don't even like wearing my MB, it bothers my wrist after a little while. On our last trip, I kept both mine and 4yo DS's on my backpack strap, and just scanned them from there. Neither of us wore them for park entry or FPs and it was fine.

As long as they are different colors they shouldn't get mixed up, or you could add sliders or covers.

We go in September and it's hot and sticky out and none of us have ANY desire to keep a plastic band wrapped around our sweaty wrist. We all hook them to our lanyards and just lift them up to scan them.

I see that he is practicing wearing it, which is a great idea. I would get him a lanyard and let him wear it on that if he gets sick of it on his arm.

I wouldn't force the issue. If he doesn't want to wear it, I would put it in my purse or wear it myself. My friend's 4 year old son didn't want to wear it and she tried to make him, and he wound up pulling it off and chunking it in the bushes. Disney bushes can have snakes, so that is not where you want to be poking around. I would not pull off the outer part and make it smaller unless his wrist is tiny because that can not be reversed. I know for DD if something feels tight there is no way she is wearing it. She has always had bigger bone wrists and the inner portion would have been tight on her from a pretty young age.

My youngest wouldn't wear his (at 2 years old) I just put it on my belt loop. My 4 year old wore it for a bit, but when it was really hot and he started sweating it bothered him a lot so I just put it on a different belt loop.

My 5 year old couldn't stand wearing it in the heat. Rather than fight with her the entire trip, we had her put it on in line for each ride so she could feel like a grown up matching the mickeys. When we made it past the turnstiles for the ride I would wear it or her father would carry it on a belt loop. I could have lied to her telling her she needed to wear it, I guess, but at some point she would have taken it off in frustration and left it somewhere. That would have been more difficult to sort out than just letting her have her own needs. I needed to wear mine 24/7 so I didn't panic thinking I'd lost it, husband took it off in the room, and child didn't want it at all except for when she needed it.

I'm on the opposite side of this. My 13 year old son has had his on since November, which replaced the one from the one from October, which replaced the one from June!! And I mean he never takes it off. Ever!! We just moved this past weekend and his broke after 4 1/2 months of wearing it. Darn!! Now he has to wait till June because he has a Sorcerer Mickey one that I bought in Feburary and he doesn't want it to break before the trip. My DD is 8 and we take the gray part off of hers and she says it is way more comfortable for her. But like a pp said, once you take it off, you can't put it back on.

I just clipped my daughters on my backpack. It was no problem for me to scan it for her upon park entry and Fast pass rides.

I never wear mine. I keep it in my pocket til needed. I actually think it's easier to touch Mickey to Mickey when it's not on your wrist.

I'm still hoping for Magic RINGS, or possible key-fobs, or an attachment for a lanyard.
