How to get waitlist success?

Currently I have OKW 2br for Oct 10-14th. I would really like AKL. What is the best way to waitlist? Do I put the whole stay down, or just try to get half? I am a brand new member and have never done a WL. Any clues, hints or tips would be great!

The more days on the wait-list, the less chance that you have of getting it filled.

If you have points available I would keep calling and book the days you want at AKV. Once you get all the days cancell the OKW reservation. If you don't have the points and want to chance it, try to book the first and/or the last day or days and go on the idea you may have a split stay. As Nutz said the more days the harder it becomes because all the days have to become available for you to get your waitlist.........others waiting for just a day or two will get first dibs. As long as you are okay with ending up with a split stay, I would break it up.

I just did that and ended up with my 2nd choices. I had 4 nights booked at AKV in August and really want to be at BWV or BLT. I called and nothing was available. Since I could only have 2 WL, I did the first two nights at BLT, LV, and the 2nd two nights at BLT, LV.

But, then I called every day to see if something opened up at BWV. Within a few days, the 2nd two nights were available at BWV and took those and then changed my WL to be the first two nights at BWV or BLT, LV. In a day, that WL came through.

So, now I have all 4 nights at BWV, and am back to WL for the 2nd two nights at BLT, LV or BLT MK view.

Making your WL smaller and calling can help you get what you want, especially since there are so many choices at AKV that 2 WL just doesn't do it!
