how to find flight to Nepal for adoption

go with the travel agency.
when she gets that baby home - she needs to get him or her checked out to make sure he or she is healthy and that the baby has everything he or she needs. a lot of children's hospitals offer an adoption clinic/specialty because depending on the country and area - medical problems in these infants or young children can be very common and require long term medical care or treatment. just an FYI! i'm excited for her!!
a lot of general family practice don't realize this too - and some general peds don't either. at the very least she can look up online what she needs to ask for, testing wise (for instance - kids in institutional settings should probably have a TB skin test, etc). we are lucky here in the US, but in other countries, a lot of infectious diseases can actually be congenital and then even more children can aquire different diseases or conditions after they are born, causing poor health, growth and development. i'd say the best way to handle it is to be completely on top of it as soon as the baby comes home.
here's an example of what i am talking about (clinic wise).... i would think that being close to chicago she could get a consult there after she brings the baby home if she wanted.

Most definitely! I would imagine that the OP's friend's agency has a short list of travel agencies they can recommend who have handled arrangements for adoptive parents in the past and that's really the best place to start. Arranging last minute travel to distant lands when you're under the stress of an adoption is not for the faint of heart and that's when an agency experienced in both international and adoption travel is a major asset. :goodvibes

Ditto - she really should talk to her agency for a travel agent reference..they know so much about particular routes and rates. We used Susan Parr agency, I believe they are based out of WA (we are in NH, the travel agency location doesn't really matter)

Paperwork is snagged at the moment but she is thinking she will need to be ready to go mid to late August.

International adoption is filled with potholes and delays. I "thought" I'd travel in Febrary, then April, then June. I finally actually travelled in September and that was almost delayed until mid-October because of Sept. 11th. I had about 2 weeks notice of my final travel dates, at which point I could actually go ahead and buy tickets.

I suggest your friend talk to her adoption agency about when to actually book tickets. They will know more about when it's safe to buy than anyone else. I suspect at this point all you can do is research, get to know airlines and routes, etc. but she will have to wait until she gets confirmed travel dates to book tickets.

While you can be an intelligent consumer and get the best bang for your buck in international adoption, it's not really something you can cut costs on. It's expensive. You just have to accept the fact that you may get stuck buying a full-fare international ticket at the last minute. (This should have been figured into the overall cost estimates your friend should have been provided by her agency at the time she started the process.) But it's all worth it in the end ;)

We adopted from China 2 years ago this August. We used Tempo travel agency to book all of our flights. They were wonderful! I would never dream of booking such important travel with all the variables involved without using an experienced adoption travel agent. Best of luck to your friend. Our adoption was one of the best experiences of our lives!
