How to eat yourself sick in Disney, a step by step guide (UPDATE: 1/21 RAGLAN ROAD!)

Thank you so much for your Ohana review. I immediately went and changed one of my reservations. I know I won't be disappointed!

your gonna love that place, dad speaking here for Sean, where would he be if it wasnt for me! you wouldnt be getting these wonderful and delicious reviews:rotfl2:

I'm not kidding, I have wanted to eat at Waffle HOuse for YEARs. But alas, I've not been so fortunate. Someday I will try it. :)

Awwww, Kona is adorable. :goodvibes:

Ugh, Waffle House >.< I can't eat since the last time I was there, my eggs weren't cooked all the way.

Shutters at CBR has a really good tres leches cake. Course it's been a few years since Ive been there so it may not be on the menu anymore.

Looking forward to Raglan Road!

Congratulations on your wedding and th ecute little Kona.
Looking forward to more reviews.

Sorry for the delay all!!

Here's some more for your viewing pleasure.

12/09

We decided another relaxation day was in order, so we slept in and had no real plans until a late dinner this evening. After getting up for the day, I decided that I wanted to go see the boardwalk resort area, as its one of the few nooks of WDW that I havent yet explored.

We drove down to the Boardwalk resort, and had the chance to pop into the Boardwalk Bakery. I was ridiculously enticed by all of the outrageous treats, and after sampling a delicious rice crispy treat, I began to snap some pictures of the holiday fun.

After deciding that I should probably eat some sort of lunch before indulging my sweet tooth (crazy, right?!) I settled on a turkey sandwich.

IMG_9451.jpg

This thing was a monster! Fresh meat, really good fresh bread, and crispy vegetables made this a perfect midday lunch. I was pretty full, and after some dissuading from the always thoughtful wife, I decided to pass on the oreo bon bon cupcake (a decision I still regret..)

We explored a little more, and I finally got to see Beaches and Cream, the oft raved about on the disboards restaurant.

After this we headed back to the resort for some more relaxation.

Dinner rolled around, and we made our way to Downtown Disney for our 8pm reservations at Raglan Road.

I had never eaten here before, but have only heard good things. We were promptly seated right near the entertainment of a live band on stage, and throughout the meal we got to see the Irish Dancers do their thing (which they do really, really well!)

Our meal started with the Irish soda bread, with Guinness reduction.

IMG_9469.jpg

Oh. Boy. The bread was soft and warm, and the reduction? I could eat this with a spoon. HOLY CRAP. If youre the kind of person who passes up the bread offering, make an exception, and dont. Soaking up that sauce with the warm bread transports you to a happy place. You may even see a leprechaun.

Next, we split an appetizer, the Smokie City - Creamy smoked haddock and Dubliner cheese dip with potatoes, tomatoes, and crostinis

IMG_9471.jpg

Its not on the menu any longer, but it was toasted bread with a cheese/seafood dipping mixture. It was really, really good, and didnt last long. We inhaled this stuff. I was using the soda bread after the supplied bread ran out, it was that good.

Christina ordered the Raglan Risotto.

IMG_9474.jpg

As a big fan of risotto, she really enjoyed this. They were kind enough to skimp on the mushrooms, as Christina doesnt like them, but it was delicious none the less.

I was debating between the shepherds pie and the Banger and Booz, and well..

IMG_9475.jpg

The Banger & Booz won out. Thanks to a recommendation from our server, I went with this dish, and Im glad I did. Really, really good stuff here. Perfectly made mashed potatoes, and really delicious sausage. Juicy and packed full of flavor, This was a perfect Irish meal, not that I know anything about the topic..

We decided to skip dessert.

Haha, yeah right. I only made this reservation for one reason.

Gers Bread & Butter Pudding.

I cant put this bad boy into words.

Its served like this:

IMG_9478.jpg

We deconstructed it into this:

IMG_9479.jpg

Poured the supplied vanilla and caramel sauce on it until it looked like this:

IMG_9480.jpg

And then shoved a ridiculous amount of it into our mouths (despite the entire time saying how we couldnt possibly eat any more..) until it looked like this:

This dessert is easily, hands down, the second best dessert of the trip. Im going to put my neck out there for Ohanas bread pudding masterpiece and say that it just barely (and I mean BARELY) edges out Raglan Roads offering as best bread pudding ever.

Nothing taking away from Gers Bread pudding though. Its served warm, its perfectly crispy where it should be, and when coupled with the sauces, its just sugar heaven.

What a perfect meal. If you havent been to Raglan Road, I suggest you run.

Been following your reviews and love them. Just had to say my 1st dog as a kid was a German Shepard named Kona (after Kona Hawaii where my parents honey mooned). She's beautiful!

That's awesome!

I've really enjoyed reading your reviews! I begged my husband for a WDW honeymoon but he wouldn't have any of it. We ended up in Europe instead (no complaints there!) but I think he was so moved by my sadness over not getting to WDW after the wedding that he said we should go for our one year anniversary! We actually ate at the California Grill on our actual anniversary and sat in the same spot you did :). We actually liked Artist Point more that trip but I still enjoy CG and look forward to the renovations.

I will also point your review out to my husband as an example that it is okay for men to be Disney food obsessed - he was a little hesitant to participate in our review at first because he felt like he would be the only testosterone on the front page :lmao:.

Haha, no way, I was the one snapping all the pictures and obsessing over the ADRs. I love it. Christina was just along for the ride. :lmao:

Just found this... can't wait to read more!!!

Thanks, and welcome!

These are great reviews, thanks for sharing

Thanks a lot, anytime. :thumbsup2

I'm not kidding, I have wanted to eat at Waffle HOuse for YEARs. But alas, I've not been so fortunate. Someday I will try it. :)

I wouldn't run out and find one..but if you're around and looking for a cheap, filling breakfast, it is quite the experience.

Awwww, Kona is adorable. :goodvibes:

Ugh, Waffle House >.< I can't eat since the last time I was there, my eggs weren't cooked all the way.

Looking forward to Raglan Road!

Haha, yeah, I can see that. It isn't exactly gourmet dining.

I'm hooked on that dessert now. I'll have to keep an eye out for it next time we go.

Raglan Road is up! ENJOY!

Congratulations on your wedding and th ecute little Kona.
Looking forward to more reviews.

Thank you, thank you, and hopefully I can be a little more timely with this! It's tough, on one hand I love remembering it all, and on the other, it's bumming me out that it flew by, and I have no idea when I'll be able to get back. :sad1:

I'm so glad to hear that you loved the bread pudding at Raglan Road, but more happy to hear that it didn't beat out the amazing-sent-from-God bread pudding from 'Ohana!

Wow. I have no words for that bread and butter pudding! It makes me want to book an ADR for my next trip!

Great review. I've only had drinks at the bar at Raglan Road but I keep hearing great things about the food. Need to go!

Wow, your dinner at RR looks delicious
I'm a huge fan of the 'Ohana bread pudding so I must try this place some time!

I'm so excited to read your Raglan Road review! We'll be going there for the first time next month and your choices all looks so good! Especially that ridiculous bread pudding... I HAVE to make room for that!

So I started reading your reviews the first week of January and they are great. Congratulations on your wedding and your puppy! You have inspired me to try to do some reviews of my own. My wife and I just got home from WDW yesterday and we were pretty shocked by the weather change! I didn't take quite as many food pictures but I still think I will try my hand at restaurant reviews.

Two other things made me also want to reply to your posts. My wife and I also enjoy Tijuanna Flats. Your review of the Earl of Sandwich and the Holiday Sandwich made me think of Jack's Deli in Bensalem. Try the #2. It's fresh turkey, cranberry and stuffing on a baguette. I call it Thanksgiving on a roll. I didn't eat at Earl so I can't compare it, but it's pretty good. It's definitely better than Wawa's hot turkey sandwich.

Chris
