I wasn't sure where to ask so I posted this in WDW posts also:

My family would like to go to disney and US/IOA and would like to stay on property at disney and US/IOA property without renting a car. How do we do this? We would like to start out at disney. Then stay 1 nite at universal hotel(so we can get the Front of the line pass) and then go back to disney resort for the rest of our stay and using ME . What is the cheapest way to do this? There will be 10 of us with 3 rooms and if we need a car at least 2 cars or 3 depending on the size of the car to get off property unless: Disney will hold our luggage for a nite untill we get back and then will just take a taxi over to US/IOA and back.

I would try mears trasportation or one of the other services since you have a large group cause it will be alot cheaper than renting that many cars

hello,

I am staying at both in May, we arrive in Orlando May 25 to stay at Portofino then check out the 28 & head to Disney till June 1.We are using a towncar service that used to be on here with a driver named Bob.It is costing me like 95.00 for him to pick us up at the airport, bring us to Universal then come back on the 28 & bring us to Disney then we take Magical Express back to the airport.
I have done this before & it is great. Also with the town car service I get a free grocery stop to pick up some snacks & bottled water for the parks.;)

That sounds great too :thumbsup2

Rather than doing all that back and forth - packing and unpacking - checking in and checking out, why don't you just do US/IOA at the very beginning or the very end of your trip. I would recommend doing it at the end because you're really gonig to hate having been able to use the front of the line privileges at US/IOA and then going back to waiting in line at WDW (from the voice of experience).

I agree with Darcy-- all of that checking in and out wastes time and money. I really would just do Universal at the beginning or end.

What town car service are you using?
There are 10 of us and I called Mears and they said we would need to cars and it would be 40$ each way so 80 one way $160 round trip. Our flight doesn't get into late and we wanted to take full advantage of using the FOTL pass 2 full days so we were going to disney for the nite plus we can use ME for our luggage and get an AP room rate. Does that make sense?
My DH wants to rent one car and just make several trips transporting everyone. To me that sound like a pain in the ***(rear)

Not being mean but that sounds crazy cause with traffic and the time it takes to get to your hotel the other set of people could be waiting for a hour or longer and think your Dh will get alot of complaining on that one

I would not stick US/IOA in the middle of the trip. Head to WDW first, then spend your last 2-3 nights at US/IOA

That's true and by staying onsite at Universal, FOTL will spoil you and to go back to Disney and stand in the lines will not be a pleasant experience.

I think he is probably used to alot of complaining anyway:)

OP,

Will you use Magical Express for your transport to and from the airport? If so, then check into using Mears. Otherwise I would do as this poster did - makes things alot easier for your group :thumbsup2

Or you can do the reverse.....stay at disney (use ME for the airport to DIsney) then use the towncar from disney to Universal and Universal to airport.
