how to change resort booked with pin

I am booked at POP with a pin in December, but it now looks like we will have a 4th person, so I'd like to switch to a moderate (2 adults/2 older teens). I called, but there were no moderates available with the pin.

However, some time ago, I read through a long thread about what you could do in a situation like this. It involved asking to speak to someone else, but at the time I wasn't thinking of switching, and didn't pay much attention to it. I haven't been able to locate the thread through a search. Anyone know what thread I'm referring to? All suggestions are appreciated.

I think it depends on if the offer you booked under is beyond the booking dates.
I have read where some guest want to modify a res after the booking dates of the promotion, and were able to do so only when asking for a Guest Services rep.
If you are within the booking dates of the promotion, and there is no availability, then there is no availability, unless something happens to open up.

I tried to upgrade at the Poly with my 40% off PIN. Made original reservation in March before the expiration. Tried a couple times before the expiration to do concierge...no rooms. I have called 3 more times trying to upgrade as I saw cocnierge rooms online but was told I couldn't (guess the rooms were not open with the PIN and the person last time told me since it was AFTER the expiration I couldn't upgrade). I had tried talking to different people and it didn't help.

The moderates are only 2 feet wider then the value. Just an extra sink in the vanity area. Maybe it is not worth switching too if you don't stay at the resort much. I think the beds are the same size too....

You can keep calling to see if something opens up, it's possible, but I don't think they can make a room open up that's not available at the pin rate, there are very few to begin with.

As far as special changes say like you want to make changes to a pin code reservation after the code has expired... this has happened to me and yes, you will need to ask the regular CM to speak to someone in Guest Services. The regular CMs don't seem to have the abililty to make these special changes, but GSCMs do. Good luck!

Yep, I believe it is guest services you are thinking of. They were able to get a code that I had for CSR to apply to AKL
