Our first few cruises my husband and I used those hardsided waterproof cases that hang around your neck on beach excursions. Kids used lanyards on ship as did I (husband used pocket ). This time we're switching to the clear waterproof phone pouches that hang around your neck. Double duty.

Yes, but first-timers are not given them (unless DVC). Unless the port check in person messes up and does by accident.
