I have 5 night booked at VWL. Can I cancel two nights and if I do, what happens to the points? I have a chance to rent/reserve a Boardwalk view from another person who will make the reservation for me before the 7 month window. I asked member services if I could transfer those two nights to another resort at the 7 month window if it was open and she said that I could, but I probally would not get the Boardwalk view. I did get lucky lat year and got one 5 months out after I was on the wait list. Any help to these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can cancel two nights. Depending how long it is until your trip, the points either go back to your current use year (so if you borrowed them you HAVE to use them this year) or into a holding account if it is really close. Basically MS thinks that the BW view won't be available at 7 months. You could rent your 2 days worth of points, or see if your friend wants them for his/her own use.

If you cancel at least 31 days from scheduled arrival, point return to normal status in the current use year. Points that were banked or borrowed remain in the current use year, as banking and borrowing are final transactions.

Cancellations 30 to 1 day before arrival go into holding status, and can only e used to make reservations 60 days or less prior to scheduled arrival. For instance, to book a march stay with holding points, you could only do so beginning in January. Holding points can not be banked, and must be used by the end of the current use year or lost.

Cancellations on day of arrival are considered used, all points are lost.

Yes, you cancel 2 nights of your 5 night stay before 31 days of arrival, you still keep your original ressies, now modified to 3 nights and your points will be returned to your use year that the points came from. If you cancel within the 30 days of arrival, you still keep your original ressies, now modified to 3 nights but your points will go into holding account and you can only use the points 60 days out from your next ressies arrival date.

you only lose points when you cancel the same night you are to stay at a dvc resort.

if you are planning on cancel a few days from your ressies 7 mons. out you will have no problem modifing the ressie and returning the points back to its original use year.
