How to apply free upgrade (Alamo)?

I made my reservation with Alamo for April a few months ago. Now my mother just gave me the Entertainment Book with coupons for a free upgrade to the next size. As I booked an Aveo, I'd love to get a larger car, but can I apply the coupon to the existing reservation? If so, when (and how) do I do this - at the counter or ahead of time?

Call and ask. Isn't the aveo their economy car? I would check the rules of the coupon first just to make sure it applies. Typically, they start upgrades with compact or intermediate cars.
