How to add only one FP+ attraction to two existing?

I successfully made FP+ reservations for our family of 4 (not counting our 2 yo). I made the same reservations for all family members. One of those reservations was for ToT. My son and I have chickened out and decided that we do not want to ride that ride, and we want to choose another attraction. I cancelled the ToT FPs for the two of us rather than "change experience," which I now realize I should have done instead. So my son and I now each have only 2 FPs for DHS that day. I cannot figure out how to add just one experience for him and for me. When I select "add new FP+," it wants to replace ALL of the existing FP reservations for my son and me. I tried to "copy FP+" from my husband to me, thinking I could just start over with the same FP+ reservations, then go back and change the ToT to another attraction, but it removed my TSM FP and replaced it with a different (but still overlapping) time. I don't want to take a chance and mess up my son's reservations.

Is there a way to do what I want to do without giving up the FPs we already have?

Unfortunately not. The secret with FP+ is to always make 3 reservations, even if you only need 2 as there is no way to add a third without cancelling the first 2.

The only thing you could do now is call and see if they can add a third for you over the phone.

I had the exact same issue when I made mine a few weeks ago. At first it wouldn't let me copy DH's FPs, because we had a 7DMT which was probably no longer available. But after a couple of tries, it randomly copied them with no problem (with exact times) so keep trying.

Once I was back to having 3, I changed the time of the FP that DS and I didn't want, that caused it to show up as a seperate FP from DH and DD's, then I could change the experience. For some reason it won't let you change the experience for some members of the party but not others. You have to change the time first.

ftpoohbear...Yes, I had trouble figuring out how to "change experience" for just two of us, which is why I ended up cancelling the 2 fastpasses after trying many different methods without success.

After thinking about it for a while, I am not so sure that it really matters much or is worth the trouble to call Disney to try and have it restored. We have FPs for TSM, can't get them for RnR because of the tiering, and everything else we want to do is shows or attractions that will probably have low waits.
