My grandpa (my dad's dad) died 15 years ago today. It seems like just yesterday that I was sleeping over at their house, going to lunch with him, going to visit him at his police station (he was Chief of Police in our town at the time that he died). I have nothing but good memories of him, I was only 13 when he died. My favorite memory is when my best friend and I slept outside of a theater overnight (at age 12!) to get in line for New Kids on the Block tickets. He bought them for me because he knew it meant so much to me.
I was the oldest grandchild, the others were 5, 5, and 3 at the time. I sometimes feel bad that I am really the only one who really remembers him. It's hard to think about what he has all missed...graduations, my wedding, birth of my daughter...I like to think he was there with me though.
He was a great man. RIP Grandpa!
Thanks for letting me get that out.
