How tall for RnRR?

I think I saw somewhere that a child has to be 48" tall for RnRR. My 6 year old is about 46" w/o shoes and she really wants to ride this. How strict will they be? Maybe with shoes she will be close.
What do you think her chances are?
Thanks anyone!

from my past experience (not nearly as much as others on the board...) They will be VERY strict. My 6 year old was measured 3 times for Space Mountain each time she rode it. So a total of 12 times in one day. Those height restrictions are for SAFETY reasons. I measure my kids before we leave and tell them which rides they can't ride. I won't even go have them checked if I know they are too short.

Yes, it's 48 inches, and yes, very strict. My DS is also 6, wants to ride, and is not yet tall enough. Their height has everything to do with the restraint system, and if too small they will not be held securely enough in the seat. Considering this ride turns upside down 3 times, I definately want my son to be big enough to be held in the seat without sliding around before riding ::yes::

It seems that shoes add about an inch to the height, depending on the shoes. Some people buy the Sketchers that are taller or put lifts in the shoes to add height, but, like has been mentioned, it's a safety issue. For a ride that doesn't go upside down I might be tempted to do that, but not for RnR. How long before you go?

My 6 yr old is probably 49 1/2 " with shoes, but soooo thin, 43lbs. Is there any concern for safety and such thin kiddos? It always worries me, but they just post height restrictions.

I see your countdown. Hmmm, she needs a growing spurt fast. :) If you think she is close then have her stand tall and be measured, but make sure you tell her that she probably won't be tall enough. Too bad since she wants to go. My kids were not too daring (with the exception of one of my boys) so we were not faced with this issue much.

Wow, that is thin. I've never seen any weight restrictions or suggestions, but that's a good point. I think it has more to do with the restraint holding her body down, which would be based on height. If she were barely 48" and very skinny I would be more concerned, but she is well over the height restriction.

We used to live and Copperfield and really liked it--12 years ago. I especially miss the cost of living (we now live in DC suburbs).

Katy Belle,
Your DD should be fine. Last May my DS was right at 48" and weighed somewhere around 45 lbs. He's a little guy for his age (he was almost 8 at that time). We rode RnRC 2 times, and while I had a strong desire to hold on to him during the ride (LOL), he didn't fall out.

RnR is positive G the whole way. If your child is tall enough (Disney actually account for parents using thick shoes ;) ) then teach him/her to cross arms around the restraint and hold on. Not out of fear, just to be safe.

Remember the extremely thin 13 yo that fell out of the mind eraser (i think it was) at a six flags? She was thin enough to fit through the restraint. Prevention is a whole lot better than regret.

This ride is pretty crazy! You take off at an incredibly fast speed and get flung around in the dark, all set to pulsating, LOUD Aerosmith music. Now, I loved it , but was pretty wobbley legged walking off and I am in my thirties. This ride is more intense to me than Space Mountain. If your child is not tall enough for the ride, there is reason. You'd hate to ruin your whole day with a scared little one.

I wont jump on my height requirement soapbox but I will say is that I used to work Coaster- and even though I trust that ride I wouldnt let my 47" son ride (and yes I couldve easily got him on there) The 48" requirement is there for a reason :)

If ya want my whole soapbox Ill be happy to provide... :)

And as a CM we've seen all the tricks and wont fall for 99.99% of them... Just cause the hair is 48 doesnt mean the head is...

BTW Disneyland Emily,

I thanked every one of the cast members. CMs take a lot of heat without a lot of thanks. I appreciate it when people are doing their job to keep me and my family safe.

We made a game out of it for Michaela. After the first measuring, she would run ahead a little and ask the CM to get measured then she'd blow them a kiss and we'd go on to the next one. They never had to stop us to check because she was already there moving the measuring stick in to place. :)

Micheala is the short one standing in the front row in the striped shirt in my sig picture.

^^^ Awww thanks :)

The thing that bothers me the most- is the fact that most people dont realize that we are doing it for *their* protection, or as I once said " we are the most selfish people in the world-- why because we want you to bring your kids back when they are tall enough- we want you to force out another few thousand to come back and visit us... we dont want to kill your kid and have you never come back..."

Happy and nice people make any day go better- Whether you work at WDW or Walmart...

My daughter is 48". When they measured her with her shoes on she was right at 48". We measured her at home w/out and we got 48". For RnR, they strongly advised against it, even though she was right at. However, it doesn't make sense. What if my daughter has really long legs and a small torso. The next kid has short legs and a long torso. Won't the harness fit them differently and be unsafe for my child with long legs? We didn't take her, and we didn't argue, not an arguing issue. I'm glad we didn't take her, not for safeness, but more for maturity. It's a pretty intense ride.
