how strict on height requirements???

I'm not going to preach, but I am one of the "the height restrictions are there for a reason" people. My poor daughter is 6 1/2 and 46"... and has been that height since last October! So far she just hasn't grown much. Fortunately our last trip she was tall enough for Space Mountain, but she knew if she didn't make it, then she had something to look forward to on the next trip. I figure, somewhere in here, she has to grow... and if she's borderline on the 48" for our trip in October, then she will just have to wait until the next trip - it's her safety we're talking about here, so I'm not willing to take a chance.

... was a sight to behold last week in AK when she couldn't get on Primeval Whirl, and her brothers went off w/o her! It cost me one Mickey Bar!
But, as always, I am so happy Disney is perhaps ultra-concerned with safety. I'm one of those moms who likes the height guidelines, and then I use my own judgement in terms of "scare" and maturity level.

.. and to tell the truth - I was totally grossed out by Chester and Hester's DinoLand and couldn't wait to get out of there. Not my Disney cup of tea at all! But that's another thread....lol

Alien Encounter.... my DD8 and I just loved this attaction and roared and laughed at each other - because we were jumping in our seats and squealling when things happened in the dark.

Even after the ride... hours later - we would talk about it and laugh our heads off... what good fun being scared can be.

But on the height requirement thing... sometimes you just don't think about it and assume your kid is okay... we were on Duelling Dragons at IOA - sitting on the ride - waiting for it to start when the guy came to measure my daughter... he made her come down and she was only 48 inches... the ride was 54inches (I found this out later) we had to leave - and she was so sad - but I blamed myself - I hadn't even noticed the height restriction notices.

Funny thing though... we had already rode the Fearfall thing - and later I saw that that was 54 inches too.... wish I had noticed at the time - I mean - what if she had gotten hurt? I think it's good that the CM's check and enforce the rules... because I was totally clueless.

she would get through one check point, then not another. we finally had her "officially" measured and got some sort of stamp or wristband at guest relations so we didn't have to go thru it.

Where do you go to get "officially" measured and get the wristband?

My DS measured 48-3/4" at the doctors Tuesday with his shoes on. I hadn't been worried about his height since then until I read this thread, now I am worried again... If the sticks are 1" higher, then he may be restricted. I might just go get the official measurement if its going to be that close!

My dd is 6.5, she will be 7 in Sept, we are hoping that she makes the 44" requirement for Space Mtn. She is very petite, but a dare devil none the less. Last June she was just tall enough for the other Mtns and ToT. We have a slow grower, who the drs hope will make it to 5'. She is classified as genetic short stature - basically, you come from small parents, you end up small too. But go figure, her 2 yr old brother is off the charts the other way!!!! We are a wacky family ;)
