How strict are they on the 4 person limit?

It is different for certain 1BRs. BWV, BCV, Saratoga and BRV will allow 5 in a 1BR but will only provide bed/bedding/towels for 4. There is no bed for a 5th, and you cannot get one from the desk.

1BR AKV Value and CCV 1BR are hard limit 4, full stop.

Not true according to DVC. I called DVC about that exact thing, as we are bringing 4 plus me (5 adults) for a 1BR in BWV 1 Bedroom. The lady at DVC
said I could get a "roll-a-way' based on availability of them. Now that was 2-3 weeks ago (Early April), so don't know if the rules and regs have changed... Who knows....

A better guess is that she gave you wrong information

While the resort may have roll-a-ways and cribs, they are for cash guest use. They may allow DVC to use them or they may not.

The phone CMs are a hot mess.

They are usually good enough at doing what they do - making a basic reservation and being pleasant. They are just inconsistent and not dependable for information they don't handle regularly.

(My husband was just whining about "salespeople!" In his case he's the product they are selling, and they've almost always oversold what he can do for them - or what is realistic given their budget, timeline, and the laws of physics. Disney phone staff is often the same.)

Own BWV and stayed many many times...no they will not provide a roll away. The regular Boardwalk Inn resort maybe, but not the BWV DVC.

I think sometimes the DVC CMs are pulled from the main pool and given little training. Not sure this is true.

But BC/YC and BWI have roll-aways, usually provided to those who get units without daybeds who need/want the last sleep surface. In general, they are not supposed to provide them to DVC, and DVC is explicit about "bedding/bed not provided." By no means should someone rely on the bed being made available.

There are reports that pop up here and there of getting a roll away in a DVC room but it's really not supposed to happen and is far from guaranteed. You do want to have a back-up plan for where #5 is going to sleep.

Ok, I will (we) will make plans for the 5th person. He will not be there the whole 6 nights, just 2-3 nights anyway. Just was asking the DVC
CM about bedding, and that is what she told me. Going by the "horses mouth" so to speak, and that is what she said. Bedding Might be available
(based on availability) for a roll-a-way.. I will ask for sure, maybe get lucky....?

Hope he enjoys sleeping on the floor or on the sofa cushions. All you need to do is read what I quoted from the member website. Nothing will be provided for your guest.

I have always heard that roll-a-way beds are definitely not available with DVC, which is why I was surprised when we saw one standing up in the halls last month, when we stayed at BWV. Weird.

Yep. I hear that. But as I am an Eagle Scout and Boy Scout, "always be prepared". We will be prepared, and bring a sleeping bag/etc. BUT, I will ask at the front desk and see. Does not hurt to ask. He is Ok with floor/air mattress, etc. BUT, I will mention that Member services said something about
the Roll-a-way. Maybe this will precipitate discussions between CM at BWV and CM at MS... As to not mention that something is/might/may be provided when it is not... who knows? Won't be upset if we don't get one. BUT, they need to get on the same page. And yes, I know no bedding would be provided, in the declaration, but I was under the impression (per conversation with MS) that we could "rent" the roll-a-way... Not sure if it would be free or cost....

The phone CMs and resort staff have never been on the same page. The phone CMs don't have to live with what they say to you.

even if somehow they get you a roll away, the floor space is so limited not sure where you would put it.

Maybe you could bring an air mattress just in case? It would probably not take up much space in a suitcase.:)

There is plenty of room in a one bedroom for a rollaway - the master bedroom has room, it can go in the kitchen - heck the bathroom is big enough for a rollaway.

The OP was talking about a BLT studio, no way there is room for a roll away, at least not in the room, maybe in the balcony.

Oh, yeah, you couldn't fit an extra toddler cot in a BLT studio. There are roomier dorm rooms.
