How safe are the rides at WDW

Disney has had some incidents that had nothing to do with pre-existing medical conditions. See:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incidents_at_Disney_parks

However they are also the most-visited theme parks on Earth, so the per-capita danger is extremely low. You have a greater chance of being hurt traveling between the airport and your hotel than you do of being hurt on one of the rides.

wow! scary stuff:eek:

I just read the link provided by another poster on Wikipedia. I found this story particularly hilarous:

Three Little Pigs
In 1976, a woman filed a lawsuit claiming one of the Three Little Pigs ran up to her at the "it's a small world" attraction, grabbing at and fondling her; it supposedly exclaimed "Mommy! Mommy!" As a result, she claimed to have gained 50 pounds, seeking $150,000 in damages for assault and battery, false imprisonment, and humiliation. The plaintiff dropped charges after Disney's lawyers presented her with a photo of the costume, which had only stubs, not operable arms.[50]

Some people will try anything for a buck.

I'd gladly do any ride at WDW (except the ones I'm too chicken to ride) over some of the rides they have at a carnie.

There is a tame version of Mission Space - it doesn't spin.
That's the one we ride now. The other goes around and that makes me woozy. But I think both are mechanically safe.

I worry a lot about safety but I have never worried at WDW.

My theory is that since Disney is such a huge and well known company they would be the target of many lawsuits. Therefore they go to the extreme to make sure that there is no reason to sue. A few years ago I went on Space Mtn. for the first time in many years. I am not a roller coaster person and was scared to death. I repeated to myself, over and over 'this is a Disney ride, this is a Disney ride." Needless to say I survived without incident and have been back several times since.
