How "rare" is this SSR promo?

We have an appt next weekend at DL to view the DVC offerings. Could someone please PM me with your name, so I have a referral?

Thanks,
Cheryl

We are Canadian and are unfortunately not in one of the "special provinces" that can just call up and say "Hey I want to buy". We want to buy direct from Disney to avoid the middle men & want to take part in the new promo. Does anyone know how we could? I have relatives who like in a province that can buy from Disney - is it possible to just use their address?
Any suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks
Jessica

Sounds like many are taking advantage of this offer! I'm still not one of them yet...we were all set and at the last minute DH got cold feet. What's that about??? We've been talking about this for ages! Sheeesh!

My brother was in the same boat as you. My sister in law has been to dying to purchase since I bought in 00. One day he says, yes and the next minute, he changes his mind. They took the tour in March and almost bought. Two weeks ago, he told my sil to go for it and they started looking at resales. I told her, go for it while he is still hot :rotfl:

As soon as this offer came out - I told them they must go for it with Disney. I did the math for him and he also realized it came out cheaper than when they took the tour in March.

They have since bought. If you are really interested, you will buy eventually. You can't rush into it. But this price can't be beat. Good luck.

I FINALLY talked the wife into it and this deal is way to good to pass up IMHO. Would some please be my refferal.

Many thanks

I can't beleive it!! We just signed all the papers Sunday- Nov. 20. We were ready to fly home and we felt that the deal was too good to be true. So we skipped a Character Breakfast and went to meet with the VC Guide. DH is a brainy-ac and thinks everything over for weeks and months. He looked at this deal, and said.... "It's a NO-BRAINER!!" ;) I AM JUST SOOO EXCITED!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
We love Disney, and plan to come back many, many times. We also plan to take advantage of the other places to travel. We rented points this visit. We just had to give the name of the person that rented the points to get the deal. I really didn't realize what a good deal it was until I read all the positive things that were said on the Boards. Here is the question. We only bought 150 points.....Is it really worth our while to go ahead and try to buy 200? I guess the only thing....is more $$$ :wizard:
I just know that this means more DISNEY trips for me....at a better deal!!

Honeymoon- 1987- Off site
Yacht Club -2003

Congratulations and Welcome Home!
When I 1st bought, I bought the minimum 150 also. Less than 2 months after my 1st trip ''home'' I added on 50 more points, this way I can stay a weekend night once in a while and not always have to go Sun-Thurs.

If you can afford to purchase more at this price, then I dont think you will find a better price unless you want to purchase VB or HH. I would at least purchase 160 points so you can trade out. If you do decide to purchase more than 150 points, I would recommend getting a separate contract for the add-on purchase. For example, you decide to buy 50 more points at the $83 price. Have your guide start a separate contract (same UY) for those points or even 2-Twenty Five point contracts.

After committing (and paying 1/3!) Monday on our SSR contract, I was so glad to find this thread! Eased my "OMG, what have I DONE?!" feeling as well as gave DH some peace of mind.

Now we wait for the big box. . . :cool1:

We're coming home, tra la la la la! :p

One other note: We committed on DS's 5th birthday. Do you think he'd let us call that his birthday present?

Is the discount applied to the down payment as in previous promotions or taken of the entire price? Or am I just imagining that's the way it went. It seems like a lifetime ago the last time I thought of DVC.

Thanks,
Adrianna

The discount is taken off the total price. And if financing they want at least 10% of the original total price. :cool1:

My wife and I bought into DVC 2 years ago at SSR. We bought at $79 a point which was a $5 off per point promotion. So the current price isn't bad I guess from that standpoint. However, I suspect that sales were not going as well as they anticipated at their full retail of $98.
So while 15% sounds great, it is based on the $98 price. If it was based on the $84 price, it would be $71.40 which would really be great. My guide (who I like alot) told me the current promotion is due to the fact that their fiscal year starts in October and this is a "kick off" for the upcoming year. IMHO it's the fact that not too many people are willing to spend $90 or more yet. And don't forget yearly fees which tend to climb every year. SSR is said to be $3.98 per point for 2006 which is lower than the others, but people have said that is in part because DVD is subsidising the cost at present. Matt :moped:
