How old were you when you learned you truly were getting old?

I'm 36 and I feel it creeping in
I started dyeing my hair to cover grays
My periods are becoming less predictable (my mom went through the change at 41 so don't tell me it's too early for that)
I have to watch what I eat and work out to maintain a size 6 (I was a sz 2 my whole life, even after 2 pregnancies and a c section)
I am in bed by 10:00
Everything annoys me, lol
My oldest child is going to high school next year

I don't think I am "old" per se, but I feel like I am not "young" anymore. Maybe middle aged.
I haven't felt old yet, I am 37, but I don't feel "young" anymore. I think the "not young" feeling started about 2 years ago when my oldest went to middle school and my twins started at public school. I was a "young" mom (not quite 25) when my first was born. I also got married young at 20. Bought a house at 22 (which actually was a bad investment, oh well). Anyhow, I did everything before my friends, so I used to feel so "mature" but still young. Now I am just middle aged and I act middle aged. Seems boring LOL

I am not looking forward to being "old" since I am so good at being middle aged. ha!

I'd say in about 2 weeks from now - give or take a day or two when I hold my very first grand baby :) Aside from that - I don't feel any bit old! For the record, I'm 51

Lately, when I see pictures of myself I feel old. In my mind, I feel young. Physically, I feel young. I still have a good amount of energy. Appearance wise, though, I'm aging and it shows :(

I'm about to turn 46.

At age 75 and realizing my grandfather was 72 when he passed away many years ago, and I thought he was soooooooo old at the time.

I'm 48. Last summer I pulled a muscle in the chest running after Disney buses. (That's my favorite part of WDW -- chasing after buses and catching them!) I had painful spasms for several days, making it difficult to walk. Didn't stop me from walking from Epcot to DHS, I just had to yell from pain every few steps. Then I had a hard time getting out of bed, it hurt so much. Finally I took ibuprofen and the pain left. I had never had to take ibuprofen before, so I didn't think of it right away.

Last week, my eye doctor said I need bifocals instead of regular glasses. I'm having a harder time seeing up close. They cost $600. :scared:

So yeah, I'm realizing now that I'm getting old and need to slow down. No more chasing buses.:(
So not 71 like your profile says?

2014, so....38. I was at DS18's Freshman parent orientation, sitting in the school cafeteria with all of the other parents. I looked around and noticed how all the parents looked so middle-aged. Then I realized that I was their peer and was probably being seen the same way!

I noticed last night that DS13's lacrosse coach's email has the numbers 76 in it, which I presume is his birth year. I told DH that I can't believe that people who were born the same year as me look so much like they are in their 40's! lol

When I started waking up when I used to go to bed. (better shape now than I was 20 years ago, so I got that going for me)

I have been able to run/walk as far as I wanted until a month or so ago.

My average day would cover 20,000 steps over 10-11 miles. Seven of those miles being targeted exercise either running, walking, or a combination.

A month of so ago my left knee swoll up while on vacation to the point I could barely bend it. After multiple trips to the doctor I came away with an ultimate diagnosis that I was just getting old and needed to slow down.

I am close to 50 but not quite there yet. Seems early to get a diagnosis of old.

Really think 'getting old' is a combination of mind set, inherited genes, keeping control of weight/diet issues, and a general taking care of ourselves - granted, some things are not in our control even when we do what we can.

Having said that, I am 72 (hubby 74), have issues I can't control, but stay very active and healthy otherwise, and thankful for that. Dh & I have a huge yard of flowers which we manage ourselves, and when we go to Disney 'run' all day and average approx. 10 miles.
Tired right now after gardening all morning, but happy, luvin' life! So, don't know what age we will start feeling 'old'!! :D 50th HS reunion, and 50th wedding anniversary just memories now of a few years ago.

Interesting reading about all you 'youngsters' and how you feel old already!! :)

I was just making a joke since you said that's when you "officially became old." I meant no offense.
You didn’t offend me at all. I didn’t mean to offend YOU. I know lots of people, unfortunately, suffer from arthritis when they’re young. Since mine waited until then, I figured it was because I was old

My current age!! Since late AUG, I 've had workup for dizziness and skipped heart beat- I have a murmur, I've had a sinus infection, a sore foot that I thought had to be a stress fracture after a WDW vacation and it was diagnosed as Gout. Then the new year brought on a Kidney stone( and a kidney cyst), a week later I was hospitalized for Bilateral Multiple Pulmonary Embolisms. I'm on a blood thinner for who knows how long. Now follow up has found a thyroid nodule. I just finished antibiotics for another sinus infection and ear infections in both ears. One day later and currently, I have a sore throat and a sore ear.
Personally I blame my su** a*** employer and all the stress they've thrown at all of us!

I got shingles when I was 27 I think. Even my doctor told me that people my age didn’t typically get shingles. That made me feel old. Then going to a very small town pharmacy to get Valtrex (advertised as treatment for genital herpes) was quite embarrassing. Cleared up the shingles right away though!
