How old were you when you got your first cell phone?

We have had ours for 12 years, so I guess I was 32 when I first got a cell phone. We are on our 4th phone. Our 1st one was also the bag phone. We added DD to the plan last fall when she was 14. She loves to talk to her cousin in New Mexico so she calls her after 9 and on weekends.

I think I got my first one about 10 years ago when I was 34 or 35 - the thing was HUGE!

My husband didn't get one until a year or so later, when he had car trouble on a lightly traveled road and sat there for 2 hours until he got help (I was frantic at home trying to locate him).

My 76 year old mother in law got one 2 or 3 years ago, but she drives us nuts with it because she turns it off when SHE'S finished talking. We keep telling her that she's defeating the purpose of WHY we wanted her to get one - so we could be in touch with her!!

Around 20... 1996 or 1997. My boyfriend bought it for me because he wanted me to be safe while driving alone at night to work and school. (He became my dh. :teeth: )

I was 23 and Dw was 18 when she got her firast cell. My little brother was 13 when he got his.

In my 30's & I also had one of those huge bulky phones! I still only use mine for emergency purposes only or just to let my DH know I'm stopping somewhere or I'm running late.

Well, let's see...1985, so, I was 41. It was a car installed one, mounted to floor, sending unit and all in the trunk. Have had quite a few in the passing years, use them a lot.

2 years ago. I was 22, I had just moved to a big city after september 11th so my parents wanted my sister and I to have something just incase we were in the city and unable to get to a phone, etc. So they got us both one. I still have the same phone, even though they don't even make the model anymore, and it's prepay.

tricia.

My dad gave me my first cell phone for Christmas my senior year of highschool (Christmas 1995)...I would have been 17. I went to College a hour and a half away, so he bought me the cell to use only in emergencies. It was really big and heavy! When DH (Then boyfriend) moved down here, he got a pager, and then when he went back to college and I was in law school we both got cellphones...that would have been in 2001, so I would have been 22 and DH 24.

1991 just before my wife was due to deliver our first born. I was on the road a lot then and 38 years old. It was a bag phone and cost about $35 per month with 15 minutes per month. Above that was .35 per minute. No night or weekends extra minutes either. Then we had phones installed in our vehicles. In 1995 we moved to flip phones.

14. it was just a couple months ago actually. i got it for graduation and going to high school present. it's a really adorable little Nokia. and i have a pretty purple face plate!!

16...I thought cell phones came standard with driver's licenses and automobiles? Am I mistaken?!

Evidently Mom and Dad thought this should be true, also. I think they were nervous that I would be lost or out of gas... They have so little faith in me.
